Nice question. Thank you for posting it.
In my opinion evolution is just another religion that has as a God Big Bang and calls its method of bringing into existence evolution by chance and not well organized creation. I am convinced it is in the school systems because of the so called Christians who do know that their so called religion is not the truth and thus were not able to overcome the arguments of the evolutionists in the court of law that did rule against the so called Christian religion being in the school systems.
One must never loose sight that this world system is not a permanent place for those who do see the pure constantly consistent truth. It is only a temporary home and thus as visitors they can not control the systems. Is it not amazing that the so called Christians do want to control this worldly system as if it is their permanent home and they do display the picture that this system is their permanent place to live. They want to change everything to comply with their standards.
Again in my opinion I do at times see this and do wonder which side these so called Christians are really on.
I am a "NO" and not a so called Christian. I am not happy that evolution as a religion is taught in the public schools and the true religion in my opinion can not be. I do want to see a change, but what can I do but wait on My god to either change it, show me what to do to work for a change, or just accept it as being the perfect plan of My God and just keep searching for the constantly consistent truth being content as it is. I choose to be content and pay no attention for now to the fact evolution is taught in the schools unless ask by someone like you about it. Then I do express my views as my views.
Now I will just smile and go on with the rest of my life and wait on my God to do what He wants to do. As far as I am concerned God is the boss and I am just a content tool.

First, I am an I Love Lucy fan too!!!
Second, I really don't know. I could take a guess and say that maybe they don't see evolution as being in any ones religion. Since they took out religion in the schools they have to have some way to teach the kids how we got on earth I guess. I don't think religion should be taught in school but I think that they should allow religious groups to have meetings at school. The only thing about it that I would be afraid of is that some nut would go around targeting the religious people and start hurting them. I think religion should be taught at home and place of worship so as not to mix up the religions. I also think that all religious holidays should be observed. When I was in school only Christian and Jewish holidays were observed and people were excused from being absent if it was one of those holidays. However, not everyone is a Christian or a Jewish person and they celebrate things at different times.

Evolution is a scientific theory which while not conclusively proven does have EVIDENCE to support it. It is not however a Religion or a Religious movement...unfortunately some loons cant see a difference.
Religion is mostly faith based, though people will also argue that the evidence is in the holy books, and the mere fact that so many believe it.
And again there is more than one religion in any nation in the world. If public schools were to teach any one religion...then that would be equivalent to imposing that religion on others who dont want it.

What is even more remarkable is that I have never known anyone who believed in the Biblical version of creation except for religious reasons. In this country, creationists are almost without exception fundamentalist christians, or at least uneducated christians from some other sect.
On the other hand, there is no example of anyone who has ever come to the conclusions of creationism or a universal flood by examination of the scientific evidence. No one who was not aware of the Biblical flood myth before hand has ever concluded that there was a universal flood by examination of the evidence. No molecular biologist has ever observed a genetic bottleneck in every living organims on the planet that occurred about 4500 years ago and then learned about the FLUD.
Evolution is the common unifying theme of biology. I think that you need to clarify the thread further and say that macroevolution or the origin of the universe should not be taught. Microevolution, or the changes that effect a population and gradually change them into a separate species or whatever, should be taught because it is science, it has been observed and documented. Maybe they should just keep out the theoretical stuff that has no eyewitness.

The separation of church and state is why religion is not taught at public schools, the human evolution is considered scientific than religious, because it can be mostly scientifically proved, it's based on proof and facts, not faith. This is why evolution is taught and public schools. Personally, I believe that the fact that religion is not taught at public school should be not a reason not to have a religion, a belief, morals.

Evolution is a scientific theory. A student is welcome to believe it our not. Religion, on the other hand, is something people generally believe in fervently or not at all. Religion is also so diverse that there is no way a public school could present the subject without offending someone. If you're that concerned, keep in mind that there are private and parochial schools that routinely teach religion, and, for all I know, shun evolution.

evolution IS religion. The question should be, why is ONE religion allowed (Darwinian evolution), but any other religious view NOT allowed in school.
That phrasing makes the real issue more obvious.
for more info, read what Dr. Gary Parker said (he authored five college biology textbooks while he was a believer in the religion of Darwinism, which he admits was a religion for him at the time). .
then he started to see that Darwinism is very unscientific and has NO basis in real science (it has no supporting evidence).
He said that while he was a biology teacher, he pushed his religion (Darwinism) in school all the time [and when he was a professor], and that there is no law against pushing religion in school, you just can't push the Christian religion in school, but you CAN push religion in school.
go to this link for an article in which Gary Parker shows how Darwinian evolution doesn't fit with science and therefore can't be true:
http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/cfol/ch2-selection.asp
Also, go here for more articles in the same vein by other top scientists:
http://www.answersingenesis.org
He has a very interesting testimony of the change in his life, when he realized Darwinism couldn't possibly be true and was just a false religion, instead of being real science.

Religion is outlawed just because it is religion, on the other hand evolution is not of a religious origin so therefore it can be taught. This has to do with the law of the Church and the states being separate.

Religion cannot be taught in schools because in the U.S. church and state are seperate. The only way religion could fairly be taught in school is if all religions were covered, and that's just impossible.
Also, people who are upset by the teaching of evolution in schools seem to disregard the fact that it is taught as a theory, not as fact. School texts won't tell your children that God or whatever higher power you subscribe to doesn't exist.

Religion was taught, but they found it unamerican to be taught in schools. I believed this happened, in 1930's? Earlier probably. Basically a groupd of scientists said they could prove it so we started teaching it as theory. Now we have reentered religion or the idea calling it the theory of creationism
creationism: everything was created by a supreme something, dont know what though or when or how.
