I recently bought a dog from an online ad that clearly stated "with CKC registration papers". When we met with the seller to pick up the pooch at a location convenient to both, he had "forgotten" the papers and promised to mail. This was 3 weeks ago. I've contacted this person several times to remind and was promised they would be mailed. What should I do to resolve this? The check has cleared my bank. It would seem this is false advertising if they are not turned over to me.

The seller was an individual, not a breeder.

I am not familiar with the CKC but with this problem and the AKC I would suggest contacting the organization that regulates the registration. It's likely to be a long and unpleasant process especially if you don't have the cooperation of the breeder. You might also see what you can find out about the person you purchased the dog from from the CKC, the clubs are usually good about this as it's their reputation on the line here, and what your legal alternatives are if there is a case of fraud.

You may have an even larger problem than a set of papers.
Without actually going to the breeders kennel, you do not really know if this breeder is on the up and up or running a puppy mill.

You should be able to find and check out this breeder through the CKC if in fact the breeder is a member in good standing. Most of these clubs have strict guidelines they require from breeders.

Have your pup checked out by a vet asap.

Unless you have it in writing there isn't anything you can do.

Also, is the CKC "Continental" or is it "Canadian"
if it's Continental then you wouldn't have much anyway, if you had them.

Let me say this however... it doesn't mean that your puppy isn't purebred, it doesn't mean that the parents never had AKC papers, or Canadian papers if it is Continental.
But as one poster said, Continental papers do not mean much because... a lot of unethical breeders use them, and it is a well known fact that you don't have to prove a dogs line or anything to get Con. KC papers.
But there are some people who use them because AKC went up on fee's, and or AKC has rules that are strict, and they don't want to put out the money or comply with AKC to maintain using them. Maybe they have something to hide, maybe they don't.
But always go AKC or not at all.

If you know the names of the breeder, and the parents, and the pup's birthdate, you may be able to find out from the CKC if the litter was ever registered. If they were not registered, the CKC can take away the breeder's privileges of ever registering dogs.
I'm assuming that you mean Canadian Kennel Club.. If you were referring to Continental Kennel club, the papers were worthless anyway....

sucker. what a scam. you didn't get to see the living conidtions or the doggy mom and dad. you just bought from a puppy mill/ back yard breeder. chances are your dog has no papers and may be a mutt. you can try small claims court. or report the breeder to the CKC.

Yeah, I am sure you are talking Continential Kennel Club here. So, really, you are out nothing!!!! It is a fake registry anyway, so just start your own Kennel Club!!! Print out your own "papers"!! They would mean the same thing!!!

And next time, don't buy online!!! It is just stupid!!! You never hand over the check before you have the puppy and all it's papers first!!!

I can't answer that question until you provide a complete list of absolutely every action taken by the the current executive branch of the government. Why would I say yes or no without knowing ALL of the facts? Why do YOU form an opinion without knowing all of the facts?

You might as well take a purple crayon & draw your own "papers" !

YOU WERE TAKEN TO THE CLEANERS!!
NEVER,EVER,EVER buy ANYTHING on-line OR frpm a petstore!!! ONLY JUNK is EVER available!

CKC is a fake/scam/rip-off (pardon me while I GAG!)"registry" made for crooks(who are UN-ABLE to comply w/AKC's STRICT policies!)*&* pup-factories to sell JUNK to the GULLIBLE & IGNORANT!!!

They "register" MUTTS!!!
