He is not a Nazi, he was forced to join the party long ago as many were.

The Pope is not and never has been a Nazi. He unfortunately was born and grew up in a country ruled by the Nazi party.

Do you think that every draftee in the Nazi German Army was a Nazi? If you do then you are very naive.

Just hope and pray that you do not have to make a decision to be executed or live and fight for a government in which you do not believe.

You and I live in a very different world that the Pope did in 1940s Germany. I suggest you do not be so quick to judge others.

With love in Christ.

How can Catholics follow a Nazi Pope?

Simple

Like all Christians they just DENY the evidence.

He joined without protest and served for 4 years.
bye the way .. Ratz... defense for being a Nazi is that
"When allied troops finally did show up, I was a deserter and ran home to hide till the fighting was over."

Deny all you like but the historical evidence is there.

Im not catholic but i will speak

If this guy really were a Nazi, he'd be nowhere near a church. Nazis ruled out religion and christianity, they ordered all crosses to be torn down and replaced with swastikas. At this time in Germany, when you were a kid, you were either a jew and sent to a death camp or not a jew and joined the party, there was no other option, and technically he wasnt a nazi, just like Hans Rudel, a Stuka pilot for the luftwffe, was made to put a swastika on his plane's tail but he wasnt a nazi at all.

You haven't learned your history yet I see

In WWII the Pope at that time actually concealed JEWS inside the Vatican at tremedous risk.

Our current Pope was only a young boy who had little choice but to participate in the Hitler Youth....sort of a NAZI boyscout.

He nor his entire family ever embraced what the Nazis did. In fact, his father was a policeman who got in a little hot water with superiors over anti-nazi sentiment.

This is obviously just one more attack on Catholicism. May God Bless

If you have any intention of finding a serious answer to this question, I suggest reading "Confessions," Pope Benedict XVI's memoirs written abou 25 years ago.

He is not a Nazi, nor did he ever voluntarily join the Nazi party. He even deserted his forced post under the regime. And I'm sure he has repented his involvement at the time.

Hey, I'm not Catholic, or even Christian, but I gotta speak up for the guy. He was forced to become a member of Hitler Youth when he was a child. That does not make him a Nazi, by any means.

Pope Benedict XVI is from Bavaria, Germany.
Following his fourteenth birthday in 1941, Ratzinger joined the Hitler Youth as membership was LEGALLY REQUIRED after December 1936. According to one of Ratzinger's biographers, the National Catholic Reporter correspondent John Allen, he was an unenthusiastic member who refused to attend meetings. His father was a bitter enemy of Nazism, because he believed it was in conflict with their faith. In 1941 one of Ratzinger's cousins with Down syndrome was killed by the Nazi regime.

Who follows a Nazi pope?! If you're referring to Pope Benedict, you're such an ignorant fool man! If he belonged to the Nazi youth of his time, well that was because during that time he had no other choice. He preaches love and compassion, and follows Jesus....the nazis...though believed to be Christians, were in fact non-Christians because killing people is just not part of our belief system. Get your facts straight moron!

The same way they followed a fascist, Nazi pope leading up to and throughout WWII.

The Catholic church has no concern for anything other than profits and retaining power.

God proclaims his glory by taking flawed creatures and doing great things with them.

Moses couldn't speak properly. David was a lowly shepherd. St, Matthew was a hated and corrupt tax collector. St. Paul helped murder St. Stephen, the first martyr of the modern church. Constantine was a pagan leader of the very empire which killed Christ, many of the apostles, and thousands of other innocent Christian martyrs.

Your obvious and insincere character assassination attempt aside, Catholics follow the present day pope because he is the duly ordained successor of Saint Peter.

If he's good enough for God, he's good enough for me.
