Climate change in global warming will increase since I believe we have pushed earth "off the edge". It is not an issue of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuel alone. Methane gas has 200 times the greenhose effect as carbon dioxide and huge amounts are stored as hydrates in cold ocean sediments. Unfortunately, as we warm the ocean currents with increased amounts of carbon dioxide which raises global temperatures, methane gas is released from the oceans. This becomes an endless spiral towards warmer and hotter climates. I hope I am completely incorrect when I think that in ten thousand years, the earth would be lifeless -- even the greatest mass extincion on earth that happened 248 million years ago when life almost disappeared completely, would be overshadowed by this one.

There probably is not much of a future here if we keep it up. We could go live on the moon. It is colder there. By then we will probably have the technology to do so. Unfortunately it is smaller, so population would have to go down.

We will gradually return to the sea from which we once came.
And the pollution we made to that body earlier will then deform us into unrecognizable forms. Life will go on as fungus.
