I have two programmes installed.
When I run one and delete what it found and the run the other one
it finds more spyware.

Is one of them - or both inefficient ?

No 2 programs are alike or run the same.
Sometimes Nortun will miss what Mcdaffy (lol) catches and sometimes vice versa.
The same with Anti-Spyware programs.
The trouble with anti-virus programs is you can only have one on your computer at a time or they will attack each other.
2 or more anti-spyware will work however, so it is better to run 2 or more to catch what the other one misses.

Please read the rogue list at the bottom of my post. MANY "Protection" programs on the Internet are Malware themselves.

Here is what I currently use.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)

The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version

AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Juz use both. Each has different definations of spyware so they will work hand in hand to keep your comp. clean. I would recommend buying Spysweeper. If you want free ones AdAware and Spybot Search&Destroy are pretty fine. But still one can never be 100% safe from spyware. However lots of whats detected by spyware programs are juz tracking cookies so dont worry too much unless your surfing habits are on the rouchier side of life if you get what i mean.

they are just finding different spyware.keep running them both, clear out quarantined items, if your looking for another, windows live have a program they will run that found 2viruses and 12 spyware that norton and my other antispyware programs did not find,it is a beta version takes a while to search your computor but its pretty good.
if your not using windows live ,spybot search and destroy and windows defender 2 all are freeware.

Go to www.superantispyware.com download their free version, update it,then scan. Do this at least once a week, job done!!

Try not to have to many conflicting programs(the same type), if you have more than one of the same type of program, then the other is likely to see whatever the other one has in its "quarentine", which is why, after scanning,go to the programs "quarentine" and delete all you find in there.

You'll be suprised what superantispyware can find!!

Hope this is of help

i use 4 anti-spy programs and have found them no problem at all,in your case i would continue to use the 2 programs as they both look for different type of infections
