I want to know if I'm old enoughto get a restraining order against my father, and how and where would I be able to get one? I am only fourteen though. Would that be a problem? Please answer my question if you can :] I appreciate it.

If you are in danger of abuse, mental, physical or emotional then you can be removed from your fathers home and taken to a foster home. Where is your mother? Could she helpyou by leaving? There are places all over the country that will help you all you have to do is ask.
Most police agencies will require some proof of what is going on, so if youre just mad because youre being punished then dont waste their time. But if your need is real then call right away, dont wait another minute.
Be safe and good luck.

If you are living with your father or he has custody of you, no, you cannot get a restraining order. In fact, at 14, you really can't do anything without one of your parents doing it for you. You are not of legal age. However, if you are living with your mother and your father is a problem, you mother can attempt to get on depending on your custody settlement between them. In any case, you will need a lawyer to do it and your mom will have to do it on your behalf. Good luck!!

I'm really not for sure if you would be able to do it yourself, but I know for a fact your mom could get one. And the only way that works is if your parents live in seperate homes. You couldn't get a restraining order against your dad if he lives with you! But like I said, I'm not for sure.

Go to your local courthouse and ask. WHETHER you can should be free advice from the clerk. HOW you can without fudging it up may require a lawyer, but the answer to your question can be found at your courthouse, just make sure they are taking you seriously. Maybe do not mention WHO you desire it again. Adults have a way of taking a teenager less seriously when they go against their parents. Just keep it simple.

It does not matter how old you are, if you are in danger, you can go to the police station, explain your situation, and ask them for help on obtaining a restraining order.

I think you'd probably have to get an adult to request one for you but a phone call to your local P.D. should answer this question for you.

BTW, when you talk to adults about your problems, always ask for and keep their names. If you're ever given bad advice by a supposedly qualified adult you want to be able to tell the next person where you got that bad advice.

restraining orders are not normally worth the paper they are written on because they are non enforcable by the police--- try to see about a protective order.. if you feel threatened physically you need to contact child protective svcs

If you need protection from your father you should be calling your local Children's Services Agency. They will take whatever steps are necessary to keep you safe.

if you live with him- contact child protective services in your area. if you just don't want to visit him-tell the adult taking care of you. Minor?under 18 can't do much without the assistance of an adult.
