If you've never had a fight or lied to each other, you aren't communicating. OK, I understand if you don't lie to each other - that's outstanding. But never fighting? I don't think it's possible for two people to spend time together for 20 years and never have a fight. It's just not healthy. Only get married if you really love the other person and you don't want to live without them. Don't just marry them because you think the last 20 years would have been a waste if you don't.

Lying is ok but if you never had a fight then def no communicating, whos afraid of commitment here you or yr patner, maybe u so need to go away and ask yourself the real question and ans it turthfully do u really want to spend the rest of yr life with this person, in life u marry the person you cannot live without not the person you can live with and someone whom you can communicate to and talk so at least in yr old age you can sit and talk together if nothing else. Good Luck.

How have you been with someone for 20 years and never had a fight? That's completely unrealistic, something is missing from the relationship. It's never too late, but only the two of you can decide if it's time for marriage.

Has he even asked you?
Only do it if you and he both feel it is right for both of you. Divorce is a horrible situation and being not married is no reason to just get married. After all, look at Goldie Hawn! She and Kurt Russell have been together for over 15 years and have children but have never married each other.

My guess if you ask strangers, the answer is no.
We don't know why it was on and off again nor if it is a good thing. Don't know you, him nor any situation.
If you two are still together after all these years and got through rough patches. I say date with out breaking up before thinking about marriage.
See a pre-marriage counselor is your best step right now to help give new skills to solving problems and keeping together. etc.

Marry him if you both want to get married. There's no such thing as too late in terms of age, or length of your relationship.
