Religious fundamentalists are scary. They have layered a great lie onto the reality that you and I experience. What you and i see as sexually healthy, they see as sick and deviant. We are a threat to their fantasy. So they must repress us, and any thoughts that sexuality can be created and defined in healthy ways between consenting adults other than husband+wife+4kids.

Religious fundamentalists have bought into the great dream. They are probably straight white middle class people, whose definitions of happiness and fulfillment are inextricably linked to the the right-wing christian establishment they are wired into. you can never reason with such people, because their whole world view and value system would collapse. hopefully their children will see the greater world one day.

I wouldnt say their lives are necessarily joyless, since joy can come from different ways, like raising children, participating in social groups, etc. But they probably deprive alot of other people of joy, who have to suffer from their b*ullsh*t as they try to control and legislate sexual rights away from decent law-abiding people.

If you don't understand the freedom that two people have within the covenant of the marriage bed, then you really would have to ask the question. None of the "religious fundamentalists" I know are sexually repressed. In fact, they state a higher degree of sexual satisfaction than people who think sex is casual and have multiple meaningless partners.

I think the real reason fundamentalists are uptight is because they are afraid of change to the status quo of society. The more changes... the more they dig in their heels. Kind of like a person grabbing onto a conservative old tree for his life as the liberal tsunami winds try to pull him out to sea.

Because they are not truly fundamentalist. They are extreemist.

Fundamentalism is one of those mindless buzz-words thrown about to manipulate throug sensationalism.

When we learn anything, maths, language, manners, carpentry, construction, physics, etc. we start with the FUNDAMENTALS!

Fundamentals are the basis or foundation from which we expand or extend towards more advancement and adaptation. Narrow-mindedness is fundamentally lacking and stagnating.

Without proper foundation advancement is illusive. The arrogance of ignorance prevails, and in the case of religion creates a tyrrant that punishes the self & others.

You've got it all wrong. Did you know people with faith in God have a better sex life than most others? It is because we are, most of us, monogamous, and have a deep trust in our spouse. We want to please our spouse in bed. Why do you think we are joyless? At my church we laugh and joke constantly. God blessed the marriage bed. Have you read Song of Soloman in the Bible? it is very sexy. Take a look at it, you will be surprised. We are not repressed, just devoted to one person in our sex life.

In short, yes. Somehow they got the idea that sex is only for marriage and only for procreation (children). Now I know the bible has the whole "no sex before marriage" bit, namely for health reasons and because there was no birth control back then. OK.
I don't know where it's somehow wrong for a married couple to enjoy sex. That makes no sense to me. Sex is natrual, beautiful and fun. Why not enjoy it with your husband or wife?
