Do you ever think that you live your life as a result of someone elses thinking?

I guess I am aiming at those of you that live by the book. But do you really feel that you have input on your way of living. Are your thoughts taken into consideration. Or do you carry on living the way someone else told you to? Is there not something you disagree with so strongly in your belief that you want to change it?

Apparently you want us to be influenced by your thinking. The fact is that everyone lives their life to at least react to someone else's thinking. That is the essence of life in any social setting. Even if you are a hermit, you are concerned with what someone else may be doing somewhere that will change your situation, and you hide yourself accordingly.

Living by a book is not the problem. Many of us treat Shakespeare's writings as a sort of bible, for example. The question is how to know which books have value and which don't.

Life is determined sometimes by so many external forces, by those around us and the mechanics of routines to work, earn, eat, sleep etc. However we are the master of our own wishes and emotions so if one tunes into these, we can be relatively free to live life as we wish. How much our thoughts are considered by others is determined by the honesty and comms we have with the person/s concerned. Yes there are often many things I strongly disagree with and want to change but life often is about acknowledging our wants & facing compromises

we are conditioned by our culture when growing up... so in effect is is inescapable. there is a certain part of us that will always think they way we have been bought up to think and why there is so little effective communication between cultures. one has to learn how another culture thinks inorder to communicate effectively with them. what is more inclined to happen is that people think their way is the only right way (GWB par ex.) and want every one to come down to their level... is that cultural, i don't think so. arrogance.
do i live 'by the book' ? well i accept that i culturally think a certain way, but i question everything. if i do something 'by the book' it is because i have grown into the decision that it is the right thing to do. if i disagree, then i disagree and behave how i think is better. i don't think i know better, just i have decided that what works for someone else, doesn't necessarily work for me.

Yes there is,the distribution of wealth.I see no reason why some of the wealthiest people in the world, don't do more to help the people that need it the most. There is no reason why anyone should not have a house,food,health-care,education,etc.There is enough resources to go around. It looks like those that could should! This would solve alot of problems world-wide.

actually yes and no
yes because in our childhood our decisions were mostly made by parents and it influence our adulthood, like learning, financial stuff, manners etc.....
no because most adults have the right to make their decisions and do make them for themselves.but I have to say that some adults do not think for their selves or at least are influenced by thinking of someone else.
