Before you answer...remember.....the what Jesus said and what he might say to this.....

Dont bring up" The poor will always be with you", because that 's just stating the obvious and besides he was talking about when his time hear was short.....Be honest!!!!!

POOH BEAR
HAS ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION:
(Thank you Pooh Bear.)
One of the Pharisees tested Jesus with a question, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" (Matthew 22:36 NIV). Jesus replied, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:37-40 NIV).

Please take note that Jesus said this - and it is reflected in the teachings from the leaders in many of the other religions of the world. Such logic can not be ignored - or misunderstood. Even the worst "bad" humans understand these commandments.
Politics are a human invention, and greedy people are everywhere as are the poor. Hold the people accountable of their actions, vote them out or in as their record dictates. But GOD does not care what party - only about these commanddments being followed.

Matthew 22:36-39 states:

"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"

He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

I would not necessarily vote for Senators who would only vote for a bill to raise the minimum wage for poor people only if in that same bill was writing to help some rich people.

With love in Christ.

First off.... I haven't researched into the bill at all.
Second.... I have no political affiliation but I am a Christian.

Just want to say... there cold be a valid reason for not voting 'yay' to that bill.... as in... the huge economic impact! Suddenly for a high % of employers, they have to eat the loss in profit, when their employee base is all unskilled min. wage. You simply cannot just raise minimum wage to give the poor a better chance for survival and not expect more businesses to fail... which will raise prices because in order to keep the same level of profit to match operating costs those business now must charge more for the same level of service. In other words, employee gets paid more but prices go up for everyone and the effect is combated, and the net effect is that inflation goes up. That's on an exaggerated scale of course, but you get the picture.

Love the God, with all you have, Love your neighbor as yourself.

We are all poor or rich in one way or another. If we share with one another then none will be poor.

I believe there is a "homeless gene," among Humans, because ALL Humans are born homeless, unless someone takes them Home.

God's greatest commandments? Well, all of them are great but, the greatest would have to be ," Do Not Lie." As once you lie, it will spurn more other lies, also envy, lust and disrespect.
