It's call slipstream. Usually it is use to apply new service pack to the old xp so that when you to install it again the xp cd will be build in the latest service pack.
Step 1 --> Copy your Windows XP Master to HDD exp c:\XP
Step 2 --> Run your service pack using /s: exp c:\XPSP2.exe /s:c:\XP
Step 3 --> Use nero project bootable CD
Step 4 --> Setting tab boot
Check Use Expert Setting
Kind of emulation --> no emulation
Load Segment --> 07C0
number of loaded --> 4
Step 5 --> Download Windows XP bootable .bin
Step 6 --> On nero tab boot --> use image file : use file on step 5
Step 7 --> Copy c:\XP on the nero
Step 8 --> Burn it on cd and done

Good Luck ^^

How to Make a Bootable Windows XP CD

To make the answer file, on the CD go into the support folder, to the tools folder, to the deploy cab file and open, open up set-up manager.

Will ask you to save it, after you save it open it up to wherever you saved it to and go next, next, next, next for new answer, next for Windows unattended installation, next for XP professional, click on the fully automated button, then click next.

Check the box that says “No, this answer file will be used to install from a CD”.

Click next, and then check the box for “accept terms agreement”.

Click next, then fill in the name and click next.

You came to a preferences screen, check the ones that you want to apply.

Next come the time zone, check the appropriate time zone.

Next screen is the product key which you will need to insert.

Next is the name of the computer.

Next is the administrator password screen, and then the next screen is typical settings.

Workgroup comes next and then telephone/modem settings, regional settings, and Internet Explorer settings.

Then you come to the screen about where yuou want to install Windows CD, then the next screen is the Network Printer, then you come to the Run Once screen (check nothing).

Additional commands, then you come to the screen that says Windows Set-up Manager where you need to change the name of the file from unattended.txt to winnt.sif

The file that we just made we are going to put on the hard drive. What we have just done is make a file that answers all the questions that set-up asks when Windows XP is being installed. We are then going to place that on the CD-ROM so the set-up will truly be automatic.

Copy all the files that came off the CD and put them on the hard drive.

Click on the I386 folder, copy the winnt.sif file into there, there should already be a folder there and you will be asked to override it and you should say yes.

Need to have the Nero Burn CD Software. Go to the CD ROM Boot and click on it.

Point to Image file, click on boot.bin. Click on enable Expert settings

Change kind of emulation to no emulation.

Then change number of loaded sectors to 4

Click over to the Label tab, can change the name of the CD ROM

Click new

Drag over the files that you want on the CD, and drag it over the left window pane.

Under recorded heading there is a burn Compilation choice, choose it.

well the original win XP is bootable by itself... if you make an exact copy (using nero or other progs) then you will have it bootable....if you make a copy by just copying the contents it woudnt be bootable.

They are already bootable. Maybe your PC isn't set to boot from CD first.
