Adam and Eve had at least 5 children. The bible only speaks of the 3 boys, Cain, Abel, and Seth. They had daughters too. Cain married the eldest daughter, and Seth married the 2nd. The Guggenheim Bible translation, fills in some of what was left out of the King James Version, but most is the same. When you're dealing with translations, some things are going to be left out, but the major themes should remain the same throughout.

This is one of many reasons not to take the bible too literally. Of course people who insist on seeing the A and E story as historical can say that there were other people created immediately after Adam and Eve that weren't mentioned in the Bible and they had daughters that the boys married. But it's simpler to understand the creation story as a story or poem or allegory that illustrates certain principles and answers certain questions, such as why are women afraid of snakes and why isn't life perfect .

The land of Nod didn't exist until much later.
The answer is the only people around were children of Adam and Eve. So they married their siblings. In Jewish culture, they only recorded the male names for inheritance, etc.,
It wasn't until much later in history that God gave the commandment not to marry within the family unit.

I saw on T.V... that Adam and Eve were not the first...they are Moses's ancestors from 10 generations before...but no knowledge of the others were passed down from generation to generation as in a family tree... except those of adam & Eve....so the only records that we have today of the first man and women are from the ancestery tree of Moses....that s as far as we can go back to the creation of man

I've put this fact out on the boards a few times, but I'll do it again...
In the book of genesis, god speaks to a group referred to as the elohim. The hebrews and christians are the only groups to use this word as singular...or claim god is so powerful, he must be referred to in the plural. The word, when translated properly, means brethern or pantheon. When god is ready to throw Adam and Eve from the garden(genesis 3:22) "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever"
Us? Us? The first book of the bible puts forth the notion that Yahweh god isn't the only god. It stands to reason that, according to the mythology put forth in the bible, that one of these other gods created other people.
Keep in mind though that it is all mythology, without any scientific basis...

honestly, if it doesn't say, it's supposed to be left to the imagination. . .or so I think. If Adam and Eve were the first people, then they would have to have had daughters as well as sons to be able to reproduce in any fashion. otherwise, the mother bore her own grandchildren, which sounds disturbing, but it's the best solution I can come up with. after all that, the entire world would have to be insane due to incestuous activities.

Actually the first people were Adam and Steve. They were doing just fine until Eve stepped into the picture. Then she ruined everything.

The sons had sex with their mother Eve. There is no mention of anyone else.
Of course you'd have to be a complete idiot to believe the Adam & Eve story to begin with though. WAKE UP!

Eve had a set of twins the first pregnancy, a boy and a girl. And then the second pregnancy she had twins, a boy and a girl. Each boy was allowed to marry the girl from the opposite pregnancy.

If you look in the Hebrew, it says in Genesis that God created Adam. God breathed into Adam. It doesn't say that He didn't create other people. But Adam was special.
I think, however, that Cain married one of his sisters. This means something bad in these days. But in those days, there was a different frame of reference.
