Valerian Root and Melatonin...you can buy them at health food stores, there are even some that combine the two...they seem to work for me. It is also recommended that you don't have electronics such as TV, Computers or Sterios in the bedroom...your bedroom is for sleeping only....a regular bedtime routine...bath or shower, reading, something you do the same every night...this tells your body and your brain that it is time to go to sleep.

Me to.

The only thing that works for me, big time, is intense weigh training earlier in the day.

Trust me, you will fall asleep FAST and stay asleep longer if you've stressed the muscles in the body... as most people that have gone on a back-backing trip, or worked a grueling physical job can tell you.

Oddly enough, running, hard biking and cadio training can cause insomnia... ESPECIALLY IF DONE A FEW HOURS BEFORE BED.

I've found that 5-6pm is pretty much the cutoff for training benefiting sleep.

One cool idea is pasta or carbs before bed time as they increase the Serotonin level in the brain that also induces sleepiness and decreases sensitivity to pain.

AVOID PROTEIN BEFORE BED, BIG TIME as protein WAKES YOU UP.... THAT INCLUDES MILK AND CHEESE.

That why protein for breakfast as always better than a lot of carbs early in the day.

You can google all this up yourself.

If all else fails because you don't want to to work out at the gym, a 1/2 of a 10mg Ambien on an empty stomach (I prefer to chew it to get it going right away... brrr, it's bitter) take at the same time every night at your ideal bedtime for a week or so, may get your sleep cycle back on track.

One more IMPORTANT THING, caffeine will stay in your body for about TWELVE HOURS.

NO CAFFEINE AFTER 12 NOON, PERIOD.

There are lots of things you can do. First, if you're not tired and you are tossing and turning in the bed, get up! You need to read a book, do some relaxing yoga or meditation, or drink something hot that is decaffeinated. You need to do something to get your mind off of whatever your thinking about. Don't watch TV or do anything else stimulating before you go to bed. Also, I like to count my breaths or listen to very soft music when trying to go to sleep. By the time I get to 100 I usually have dozed off. Finally, ask your doctor if nothing else works.

Well if I had the answer I wouldne be answering your question at 2:00 am but...

Some times I have been able to exercise 2 hours before bed time and it has helped me sleep better.

Have you spoke with your Dr about Ambien?

Over the counter Tylenol sleeping pills.

Warm milk

Sex if you are old enough

Start with your family doctor. Perhaps a sleep clinic where they can do a sleep study might be needed.
