How can you tell if its a phantom pregnancy or a real one?

False pregnancy. Some of my dogs have had this. With a flase pregnancy, they tend to just look fatter, and a little swollen around the teats. I can always tell if the pregnancy is false or real. With a real pregnancy, the sides will swell out after about 5 weeks. One day they do not look pregnant and the next day they do, almost like overnight. The vet can do an ultrasound to make sure.

Do you feel anything when you palpitate her abdomen? We did that quite regularly with our dog (not a Dachshund) before she had her pups. We felt little balls...for lack of a better description, and eventually they had movement. Other than that I'm not sure you would be able to tell unless you take her in to a vet.

If you bred her it is probably real.
And don't palpate your ***** unless you REALLY know what you are doing, you can hurt the babies.

If she was with a male when she was in heat, she is pregnant..if she was not with a male, she is not..
