My little sister found a puppy tonight and my mom says we should get rid of it because she thinks it has worms. Here are some pictures for you to check out. (sorry they're bad she doesn't like to stay still) http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/4296/1001536qw9.jpg

No I don't think she has mange. she is a black and tan color so I just think that her roots are tan/blond. We already have a dog (a mini yorkie) and my mom was comparing the puppys size to it and she thought the puppy was too puggy around the middle but now i understand. here are some pictures of its face and body.

Nearly ALL puppies are born with round worms..I sure don't know why your mom would want to dispose of it for having something that most dogs have..Wormers are cheap to buy, and the family won't get worms form the dog...So, just get her someNemex at the pet supply and she will be fine..

I'm betting that the local shelter will get the de-wormer for you, if you call them and tell than about finding her..I have raised 23 foster children with many puppies and dogs, and neither myself, nor the family has ever gotten worms from a dog...Just wash your hands before eating, as you do anyway..

Cute puppy! Most puppies have worms. They can get them from their mother's milk when they are very young. Your mom may be right. Many times the stomach will be distended when there is an intestinal parasite infection. Check the stool for signs of infection as well. Look for things like diarrhea, a mucusy film over the stool, blood in the stool, things like that. If you are planning on keeping the puppy, then take it to a vet ASAP. Since you have another dog, the puppy could transmit the parasites to him/her. Depending on the type of parasites that the puppy has, there is a chance that they can be contagious to you and your family. The only parasites that you will be able to see yourself without use of a microscope are going to be tapeworms. They sound much worse then they are. They will look like little pieces of rice on the stool. Other than that, you may see nothing unusual about the stool, so getting it checked is the best way to determine what kind of parasite needs to be treated. If you are not planning to keep it, then give it to your local Friends of Strays or ASPCA. From the pics, looks like you may have a shepard mix, so this pup may be a large one when it grows up.

It does look like she might have woems but this is no reason to get rid of her it can be treated very easily for only like no more then 5 dollars and that is high.. You can go and get a dewormer from anywhere really my grocery store carries it, but your mother or you could even go and ask some one at a pet store what and where it is.. It is good for all puppies when they are 8 weeks to be dewormed sometimes even sooner and people that have dogs that have puppies really dont know this unless they are breeding the dog for specific reasons and usually they are just a plan old breeder.
I hope this helps.. You shouldnt get rid of that cute baby girl thou for something that is so very easyily fixed.

It is hard to tell the age from the pix because you are only showing the back, but it looks pregnant. Also looks like it could have mange, or it could be the lighting. Just looks like there is hair loss. Is that what you are calling worms? If so you probably mean ringworm. Not ringworm, but most likely mange. Sarcoptic mange is contagious to humans. Try to find the owners. Can you show pix of the dog's face? Is it a Chihuahua?

i think ur mom is right the puppy do have worms. because usually cats with worms have big belly so...maybe it's the same thing with dogs. but i think deworming the pup won't bo so hard. since u guys have another dog already u can try to convince your mom that the pup is reallt cute and ur already there dog can have a companion when u guys r not home. and i don't think he will grow up to be a huge dog maybe just small to medium size dog. really adorable..if u don't want it give it to a good home. they'll take good care of him. best wishes to ur little puppy and u!!

Well there is one way you can see if it has worms...when it goes potty look at it's stool to see if you see any worms in it.. sometimes you can see them...go to your local grocery or department store and get a dewormer put it on its food and that will kill any worms it does have....and won't hurt the puppy if it has none.....She looks like a shepard mix to me by her coloring and the size of her paws...if she is she will be a great addition to any family

I think she looks healthy....is there any other reason other than beign a bit thin that your Mom thinks it may have worms??? As long as you dont see any worms in its feces(poop) then just buy a over the counter wormer(pretty cheap @ any pet store even Meijer, Kamrt, Walamat) & follow the directions, usually you just hv to put it in ther water & its takes care of em..>GOOD LUCK!!

She does look a bit bloated, but i say you should still keep her. Most puppies are actually born with worms, and it isn't very expensive to have her dewormed. However, if you still can't keep her please take her to an animal shelter where she will have a chance at getting a good home, don't take her to the SPCA.

What i could see is alittle swolling and she may have worms,But thats no reason to get rid of the poor thing...All she needs is to be worms...Go to petsmart and get some round worm pills and ask for some one to help you...And if she has fleas, give her a flea bath and wait a couple of weeks and them get tape worm pills...I know for a fact that petsmart has those to...You get 10 pills the same your vet uses and charges $30.00 for one pill...A bottle of 10 is $29.99...And ask for help because they keep the tape worm pills lock up...And you need to know the weight of the puppy...
