Water is good for flushing out impurities, for making the skin not dry out, for internal organs to function properly, etc. The amount you have to drink depends on your activity level. The 8 glass theory is a myth (could have been started by the water bottling companies to sel their product). The more active you are the more you have to drink. The best way to consume water is to sip it than to drink it. It allows the body to absorb more water. Too much water is bad as it can lead to loss of minerals from your body.

Your body needs water - it is comprised of more than 50% water. Not providing enough can cause a host of problems (skin, hair, waste removal). Water is the natural thirst quencher - no additives, no calories, nothing bad for you - all good. Doesn't mean you have to drink nothing BUT water, but no diet should lack water completely!
