It seems to me when I go into a clothing store I see mostly women shopping for clothes for their husband or sons. The men and boys seem to be only there to make sure that the clothes fit and dont seem to be taking an active role in selecting the cloths. Is this true when mothers shop for their daughters too. Are the daughters passively accepting their mothers choices.

I think the women do the shopping for their husbands and sons because the men usually don't care what they wear and the women want to be proud of their family. My husband wears tan, blue, gray, brown, and black all together and doesn't understand that those don't match well. I tell him what to change into when I want to be proud of him. He's going to play baseball with the boys, I could care less what he is wearing. My daughter is 18-months-old so of course I pick out her clothes. As for when I was a younger my mom helped me shop and had me try on things I might not have picked on my own but she had good taste and knew what would look good. Actually, even now she still helps me shop. I used to argue against the clothes I didn't like but as for trying them on it doesn't hurt and 9 times out of 10 she was right. Moms know!

I don't know, most men doesn't seem to care of how they look just as long the important areas are covered. Anyways i think women do the most of the shopping for there husbands and sons is because they tend to make up a portion of the woman's background?

Its not that men/males dont have taste! Its that most of them dont want to put the effort into driving to the mall and shop!

I see many men go shopping and have an amazing taste in the same time others have horrible choices..... and believe it or not! This is also the case in women/females!

Its just the force of habit I guess that made shopping for us females more familiar than males...

Interesting fact: I have taken a case study in on of my business classes in college about the digital world... When cameras used to be only manual with film rolls.. more women bought them with a more percentage of women in developing the film etc... when the digital cameras came into our world.. more males took over because its digital and cool! and this is "manly" hee hee
So I did a survey for it, and apparently more males are now interested in buying cameras with more advanced features! Many women still prefer the manual ones!

Interesting! Now we have to find a way to "digitalized" malls and clothes to see more males going shopping

I pick my hubby's clothes b/c he doesn't want to be bothered. As for daughters shopping with mothers, unless they have the same taste, it can be messy. Daughters are less likely to have no opinion about how they look, so they are usually not passive in letting mom call the shots.

I think because men tend to get whatever and they sometimes dont really care how they look as long. So we women have to pick out they're clothes.

I have shopped for my hubby because his taste in clothes is not the best, so I ( like a mother) have to pick out what looks nice.

My husband hates to shop and has no sense of style. My 2 sons are still a little too young to have their own style but I'm trying to teach them what colors look good on them and how to match things up.

Actually, the men / boys in my life just hate shopping...much less trying on clothes. A woman's work is never done (sigh).

Because we mothers do all the work. We keep them alive, literally. We make sure they eat their damned weeties and wipe their butts properly and have injections and learn how to make friends and all of that and in return, we expect to have the right to make them wear whatever we think they look best in. It's just another part of our job, but it's a part that we don't actually mind doing all that much.

I shop for my man because i know what's fashionable (and on sale). He looks good because i dress him right. Daughters have lee-way to choose what's hot--what the popular girls are wearing. They want to fit in and be part of the 'clique' so help them out.
