Many people claim to find God on death row, right?

Well I belong to the Correctional Institutions Chaplaincy and one thing I'm fond of reminding the inmates when I go to conduct Bible studies is this passage.

2 Timothy 2:8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, 9 for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!

Just a few days ago a prisoner who had accepted Jesus while in jail was talking about how people were always commenting about the fact that he was always in a good mood in contrast to those around him. He said that he was glad that God had gotten him to a place where he finally had to come face to face with himself and see that he needed Christ in his life.

As I read your question:
"God is in jail, right?
Many people claim to find God on death row, right?"
The answer is YES. GOD is everywhere. He is actively helping people that are looking for help, and helping people help others.
When a person playing sports thanks GOD - this usually means the person really didn't think he/she had it in them to succeed at the play, and were surprised as anyone else. This is GOD at work.
When a person is in jail, cut off from their community, it reminds him/her of being away from GOD, so they try to reconnect, work on their foundation, prior to reentering the community, so they have more control of their free will, and human nature.
When you are actively helping and following your faith GOD knows this and gives you more help.

Consider this: if there really is a God, and He created you and everything else on earth, don’t you think He can be wherever He wants? And I’m sure you know, (instinctively, if not intellectually) that a lot of people must be at the end of their rope before they will ask for help. Don’t you know, that if there really is a God, that He would much prefer you to accept Him before you get yourself into such dire straights? But humans are such a stubborn bunch. They want to do everything their way. God is willing to help us even when we are the most stubborn and pig-headed on earth. Yes, people do accept His help when they have no where else to turn. Why does He let them get to that state before helping them? BECAUSE THEY ARE STUBBORN!

this is true, because he is everywhere. On death row, these inmates are faced with their own death, so that forces them to think about the afterlife. therefore, they allow god into their hearts. It is ashame that is what it took for them to find him. Many do not find GOD even on death row.

Take away ( or give up) everything on the outside (the world)
in jail most of the world's distractions and temptations are gone so you have less other to occupy yourself with.
It takes your full attention to find God, they have a lot less to worry about, except of course, dying.
And they are so scared of going to Hell, they are begging for His forgiveness. They are sincere.
It is written, He will answer you if you call Him sincerely.

I hope so... people on death row are of the few that acutally know the date they will die. I don't know the numbers, but I hope many do humble themselves and repent of their sins, and cry out for the mercy and forgiveness only Christ can offer.

Clever.

But a lot of people claim to find God when they are in 'nature', too... so maybe he escapes the jail a lot to go for wilderness excursions.

;)

God cannot die.
He will come when the time has come.
If there is not a prepared and specified time to judge all things, you have been judged to say that.
