I believe you are misinterpreting a bit. Here is one way to describe Original sin.

The paradise in which God created the human race was a place where all people lived in complete holiness. They loved God with all their heart, with all their soul, and with all their mind. They loved their neighbors as much as they loved themselves.

Then the first human beings disobeyed the commandment of God, choosing to follow their own will rather than God's will. This was the Original Sin.

As a consequence the first human beings lost the grace of original holiness, and became subject to the law of death; sin became universally present in the world.

Besides the personal sin of the first human beings, original sin describes the fallen state of human nature which affects every person born into the world. Therefore we are not responsible for Original sin but we are affected by it.

It was this fallen state from which Christ came to redeem us. Jesus makes paradise available to us again and teaches us how to live there, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

With love in Christ.

It seems like he was far more upset with Eve but then that's just me.. It does say that the sins of the father are revisited upon the children for generations somewhere, I forgot exactly how and where in the Bible. I don't get a lot of stuff I have read in the Bible. I am trying to figure out my faith and spiritual beliefs too and I am just more confused as I go along. It is hard to believe that eating the 'fruit of knowledge" was such a horrible sin that later on he sacrificed His Son to get us absolved, that Jesus had to die. I can't get it, why was it necessary? If God is omnipotent why could he not just say Umm ok I think I'll quit worrying about this and forgive you all, have a nice day? Am I going to hell now just because I wonder?

You aren't being held responsible for that particular sin, it is the sinful nature in man that was passed down through Adam that resides in all of us. That nature has seperated us from God, that is why Jesus died for you, to bridge the gap that existed between man and God. When someone rejects Christ, they reject the means by which they can come to God forgiven, they were already seperated and they remain seperated. That is why someone can do all kinds of "nice" things in life and still be condemned, those nice things do nothing for the sin that exists in their lives.
The opportunity for redemption is there, some accept and many do not.

I believe you are a Christian and I know all about it from my Christian friends.I am a Muslim and this incident has a more reasonable and truthful(according to me) explanation in the Holy Qur'an.It is clearly said in the Quran that mankind was created to dwell in the Earth and God says this to the angels even before creating Adam.Adam did a sin and he asked God for forgiveness and God forgave him. This incident occured to warn Adam of the devil and to stay away from the devil's traps during the future life in Earth. In Islam, it is one of the basic rules that nobody is responsible for another Individual's sins and no one can accept responsibility and save anyone from their deeds.

It's not that God is holding us responsible, its just that we are all Adam's children and when disobeyed God, he sinned, and now his sin is carried on to all of Adams offspring. Which is us But God doesn't cause bad things to happen to us, most of the time its the decisions that we make ourselves. But if we really read the Bible, we will find all the answers that we need. But God is loving, not evil.

Yes you are misinterpreting the story. It was Eve that gave in to the serpent and ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of god and evil first and then talked Adam into trying it.
No you will not be held responsible for their disobedience to Gods commanment not to eat of that tree.
Your soul will be judged on what you did or didn't do in your own life on Earth.

You are confused by the claims and teaching of the New Testament, which in order to make a justification for the supposed sacrifice of Jesus for the sins of the world, lays the False teaching on humanity, that they are all born as sinners, supposedly carrying the sin of Adam from birth to death. THIS IS FALSE :
The Hebrew BIBLE,,,preceeding the supposed New Testament replacement for Torah, Tanackh,,,,declares that each person is responsible for his her own sin, and will either live or die as the result of his her own life. Ezk.38. for ref. SIncerely

We are not holding the responsibility for what Adam has done. But rather, because Adam was also man like us, we all have the nature to sin just like Adam. Therefore all of us have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. We have to paid the price for our sin. But Thanks to be to God who came in the form of Jesus to come down to earth to pay to the price, that by His blood we are cleanse.

when Adam first sinned, he let sin into the perfect world that god created. Therefore temptation is now all around us. the devil is tempting us to sin just like what happened to Adam. so god promised he would send a Savior. that savior is jesus christ. is doesn't matter what sins you do or what adam did, if you are a believer, god will forgive all you sins because of jesus christ.
