When I bite it I can taste it but I get plastic in my mouth. After opening the packaging there is a layer of plastic on the slim jim. Am I supposed to eat it? Is it bad for you?

YES YOUR SUPPOSE TO EAT IT!
1. open the slim jim from plastic.
2.bite it.
3.chew it.
4.after gully chewed swallow.
5. Then let it figest continue this process until desired.

That layer of plastic is actually pig intestine. It adds to the chewiness factor. Without it the Slim Jim tastes like salty PlayDough.

Yeah, the little lining is edible. Its like the little lining that holds the contents of a sausage together.

I eat it. Never bothered me. Pain in the butt to peel it! I think it's meant to be eaten.
