YES

I actually have several good stories about answered prayer.

A recent good one was a while back at my home there were horrible storms and tornado warnings went out. I watched local channels on TV showing their radar pictures.

Suddenly there was a rotation marker ....then a second one....indicating two powerful tornados were bearing down on my home from about 8 to 10 miles away. We had a few minutes to prepare.

I walked into another room to retrieve my Rosary and as I re-entered the living room and looked at the TV screen the two markers on the screen indicating these tornados simply disappeared off the screen without a trace or reason.

The meteorologist giving his play by play of the storm also made a comment about how odd it was for these two rotation signals to simply disappear as they did.

A true story.

Yes, I do.

HOWEVER, I don't believe that prayers are always answered the way that WE think they should be answered though (if that we the case, I would now be married to my 7th grade boyfriend... ack!!!)

The last time that I was very aware that my prayers were answered was just the other day:
My sister has been having a difficult pregnancy and she asked for prayer from my parents and I. The very next day she was feeling brighter, happier, was having less pain, her appetite was back in full force, etc etc.

Sure, anyone could argue it off as coincidence or just the power of positive thinking but I choose to see thesethings (which happen soooo often) as evidence of the caring, compassionate God that we believe in.

Cheers : )

PS Sherbear: What about you?

Yes, I believe in the power of prayer to God. The last time my prayer was answered concerned a cross country race that I participated in which was a big thing for me. I suffered from anemia for the last two years that I ran cross country and did not do so well as I usually did the years that I wasn't affected by it, not realizing that it was anemia. I thought that it was all a mental problem and prayed and prayed to God every day: "Lord, please help me run faster. I don't know what's wrong with me but please help me gain the power to overcome it." I came to tears every single time someone asked me why I was running so slow, stopping, and out of breath every day after our warm-up, and I had to explain to them that I didn't know what was going wrong, describing to them the pain and exhaustion I felt while running. After going to the doctor, finding out that I was diagnosed with anemia, I was prescribed iron pills and took them 3 times a day. Within 3 months I was stronger than ever, as opposed to the 5 months that the recovery was supposed to take, which would mean I would not be fully recovered for the next cross country season because the season would start in about 4 months. I was so thankful that I figured out what was wrong with me and was able to recover so quickly. So when I got the call from my doctor claiming that my blood tests were all normal and I could run distance again, I went to a cross country camp, finishing in the top 3 girls for a 2.5 mile race, getting almost a minute faster time than last year at 16:25. It was a renewal of my faith in God, knowing that the power of prayer also depended upon your faith in God. When you ask for something in your prayer, God's answer is "Yes, right now" or "Yes, but not now."

Absolutely,
The power of prayer is not nesacarly the answer that we seek or the answer that we imagine it to be. It is not the prattling on of adolecent self interest. Sometimes the Answer is No. Though Allways in your best interest. I have prayed that the Father not take a particular loved one. even though the life they were living was not the life that he had Intended for the. Case in point, My grandmother was on her death bed. She had what is known as a Global stroke ( a stroke that affects both Hemispheres of the Brain) the family Gathered and prayed that Gods will be done. The Doctor that was attending told us that it was just a matter of time before her body realized that she was dead. Throughout the night the Doctor and Nurses came to proclaim her passing. and each time she recovered. 23 Times she showed on the monitors that she had passed from this earth and 23 time as they were doing the paperwork she recovered. She left the Hospital 3 days later with nothing more wrong with her than the soreness of the breathing tube that had irritated her throat. The doctor in his bewilderment, told us that only a miracle could have saved her. That he, as a devout athiest, was now convinced that God does answer prayers. He could find no reason medicaly for her to be alive, much less with out great physical impairment, she was with full function of her bodiy and not a vegetable attached to a machine. From that day forward he abbandoned his fainth in athiesism and dedicated him self to the power of the LORD almighty and his son Jesus Christ.

I know there is power in prayer . God just answered a very urgent prayer a few hours ago. I prayed for his protection over my grandchildren. Personal details I won't go into. Not even an hour after I prayed . My daughter called to let me know the kids were fine and playing and laughing. God hears and answers you better believe it. If I couldn't pray for God's help I don't know how I would live in this rotten world we are in. Praise God!

Yes. I pray all the time, and my prayers are always heard. Well, that part's faith. Actually, it's all faith. But everybody's prayers are heard. Whether or not we get the answer we want is another thing. I have prayed for a relationship for years, but haven't gotten one; the prayer was always answered, though. The answer was just, "Not yet."

yes!!!!! I prayed to God that I was sick of renting apartments and was sick of paying rent and wanted to own a home.. but had no way of coming up with the down payment. 2 months later...my dad offers me a great deal.... he said that if I wanted to own a home, he would a put a downpayment on it for me and I can continue to pay the mortgage. WOW!!!! This is a true, true story.
I also prayed with my grandmother for her bad knee to get healed and instantly the pain went away....it's been 2 years since she's had any pain!! And my Grandma is 80 years old!!
I've also prayed for God to help me take my anger away because I have a tendancy to over react to things in anger when it's not that important.....now whenever I feel myself getting upset...I get a little thought in my head that reminds me to not over react and to let other people be free to do what they need to do.

So yes I definintely believe in the power of prayer, I pray all of the time.
