Hi Luke,
It depends. Most people use alcohol because it lowers their inhibitions and makes them more comfortable in social situations. After a few drinks, we can relax more and feel like we can have a better time when around others. So, if you're alone, you may be drinking for a different reason, and probably need to ask yourself, "why am I drinking."
If you're answer is that you're going to have a couple of beers to relax, then turn in and go to bed, there's really no problem. Or, if you're an artist and you need to unlock some creative potential, again, not much of problem.
If you're answer is that you're lonely and/or bored, then maybe there is a problem. Drinking causes a temporary euphoria and subsequent depression. People often drink alone to ease the pain of past problems and then end up only compounding those problems. It often causes one to think about all kinds of depressing thoughts.
So, if you're on the couch, blitzed out of your mind all alone at 2 AM, then there may be a problem.
Hope there isn't in your case...

Libations and spirits are thought of as a social pursuit. The idea is that a drink or 2 will help you relax enough to socialize.
There is nothing wrong with have a drink or 2 on your own, but to get drunk by yourself repeatedly implies that you have a drinking problem. It takes the drink out of the realm of pleasure and puts it in the realm of need.
Peace!

You can get into the habit of over consumption and it could lead to some serious health risks.
Some have been at parties, drake to much, everyone passed out, some vomit and then choke on it and die.
If you are alone, your chances of this happening are greater than being in a crowd.
Also it encourages denial that you have a drinking problem.

Nothing, if it's a rare occurance. However, if you're like my dad, and drink every day of your life whether you're with people or not, then you're an alcoholic. I drink alone quite often. I never get wasted. I'll sit at home with a glass of wine to relax, or a rum and coke. If you do that everyday and get trashed.. well.. then you have probs.

Nothing wrong with drinking alone. Just don't get into an argument with yourself and then lose.

Nothing. You are home, safe and not driving. Much better than going out with no point. Save going out to when you are with a girl or your friends. Now if you sit in a darkened room drinking cheap vodka right out of the bottle while muttering to yourself... then you may have issues.

Nothing as long as it is just a glass of wine or other. But getting trashed alone or just a little drunk is boring. Usally if u are drinking alone something is bothering you.

Nothing ...until you start talking to yourself and answering back. And peeing on yourself when you are alone is just pathetic. Its much more fun to do it around friends who can make fun of you!
