The jeep grand cherokee is an excellent vehicle. I've had a 93' with the 4.0L I6 and a 00' with the 4.7 V8. I traded the 93' in for the 00'. The newer one has plenty of power and is reliable. It currently has 90,000 miles on it. Its driven daily, is good in winter, and tows very well. The 93' was an awesome jeep as well. I dont know how they are over 120,000 miles but, go for it.

If you want a vehicle to go off roading in and NOT just so that if you "have to" go over snow, mud or other low traction surfaces then Get the jeep some people have problems with them but I know of lots of people that SWEAR BY THEM, and with over 250,000 miles (possibley over 300,000 miles on it the odometer broke after 200 and some thousand miles) on the '76 CJ-5 of my friends (which hase never had any engine work done, and it's compresion tests showed that it performed better than manufactures spec. from the factory and it was tested this year) the over 210,000 miles on my 1987 YJ(I have only had too replace a starter solinoid) I would say that toyotas may be a worry free vehicle for a while, but they can't keep as long as a jeep. All of the inline 6 cylider's I have heard about last a long time, and that is not just jeeps but BMW and I believe Porche used them for a while and others so it seems that they are a loner lasting engine than the V design. The toyota is ok, buit doesn't hold up off-road as well, and most of them act a little under powered vs. jeeps with similar engines.

Stay away from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, I have one and I have had a lot of problems. My fuel pump went on it, my A/C broke and my transmission is starting to have problems. Everyone I have known that has owned a Jeep will not buy another one because they have had similar problems. Go with a toyota it will last longer and be more reliable.

If you want 4x4 for serious woods and trail riding I would go with Jeep. Heave duty Dana axles in those stock. Toyota not built as tough for woods stock. Much better for reliability though and gas milage I would say
120,000 miles not bad I have 209,000 on my Dodge Ram it runs like it has 50,000 miles

dude stay away from toyota suvs. they're mostly for getting groceries. jeeps come stock w/ dana axles so they are extra tough for off roading. they're great after 120k if you get the 4.0 liter straight 6 engine. they'll last longer than a toyota.
