What is love?

Question

Describe love the best you can. An analogy would be welcome.

that is merely a movement of light

there is the love of saints
distilled in agony and reduced to a prayer
there is love of family and country
there is sand and steel

there is breath that is given
and laughter thru paper thin walls
or shouts across great distances
real or imagined

there is reason to believe
in the permanence of pain
and continuing beauty

there is salt
there is regret
there is love like that

what a coinkidink.. my friend JUST asked me this ?? the other day!! :)

i said, that Love is: caring and "loving" someone SO MUCH that you want the *BEST* for that person...even if it is something that is hard for you to do. you put their happiness above yours... which is why i think people say "If you love them, you have to be willing to let them go"... because sometimes, if letting them go is best for that person, u have to do it if u reallly love them, above ur own selfish needs or wants.

i think a relationship is two way street; therefore, if U love someone in this fashion, where u put their needs above yours, and u find someone who feels the same about you, puts ur needs above theirs, you are COVERED of anything and everything that could be an obstacle. because you are taking care of each other, and loving each other so much to take charge of what is best for the other person, there will be no need for selfishness, no need for fear of rejection; u are proud to maintain that relationship and continue to work on it each day, regardless of mistakes or laziness or frustrations that is life; it is WORTH IT to keep on working to make this relationship happy, healthy and successful!!! so when people say they are unhappy, or their partner is treating them badly, it doesn't necessarly mean that the love is gone, but it means that person is not making an effort to do what's best for their partner *above* their own selfishness...and that's not enough to keep the relationship healthy. u have to work for it, not cuz u "have" to, it's so annoying but u have to, but because u WANT to and rejoice doing it. good luck to everyone!!! be a loving person who knows what u need and want, and find that person who has the same goals so that u can grow together!

love...... i will tell you what that is TO ME.... a feeling i cant conrtoll but want to so much. when you think about someone all day night morning evening all the TIME. jsut always. you find nothing wrong with this person. THEY ARE PERFECT IN YOUR EYES. the time spent with them can never compare to the time you will spend with anyone els. someone you acctually want to have kids and make them with that person. love that is my LOVE the man i love makes me feel this way.

well i dont rly know. its something that just sort of hits you. you can never be sure if ur rly in love until that hits you too. love is just something that can either be painful or enjoyable depending on how it goes. its something everybody tries. good luck!
