I'm a univeral life church minister and I want to start a new church. I was thinking about how some people just don't want to get all cleaned up and dressed up and sometimes you can't get the kids going on Sunday morning. So, I came up with a "drive-in" church idea.

I would buy a big old parking lot to hold my ministry instead of a church with four walls. People could just pull up in the parking lot on Sunday morning. We'd broadcast the sermon over the FM and you could hear it on your car stereo. People would be able to just come as they are. Kids could sleep in the back seats and you wouldn't even have to comb their hair. You could bring all the food and beverages you wanted, even a little hot toddy if that's what get's you going in the mornings.

Think of how it would feel if you could just sit in the car in your pajamas, your hair sticking up everywhere, putting your feet up on the dash and listening to a Sunday morning sermon.

That's a slice of heaven!

That is the problem with Christians and a lot of 'Muslims' you think religion is a type of service for you. Just like going to a doctor, the fast food restraunt, the dry cleaners, the maid, etc. Service to make you feel good for a couple of hours then back to being miserable. Little do you understand that this life is temporary and you will be accountable for your actions. Little do you know that you are being watched not only on Sunday but everyday. Little do you realize that religion is an everyday thing where you struggle with yourself in doing good, whatever it maybe. A wonderful every minute struggle to gain attachement to your Creator and to ultimately be at peace and tranqulity.

I am thinking, hoping actually that you are not serious. I could stay home and watch any one of a number of preachers on television , in my pajamas with my hair sticking up eating sugar coated sugar bombs for that matter- why get in the car at all? An individual can read the Bible, hear good teaching, get a revelation anywhere at any time. The main purpose of church is to bring believers together to fellowship in His name- this is how we minister to each other, get ministered to, bear each others burdens, etc. Your idea gives little to no room for real fellowship which is vital for growth

It has already been done.

The well known "Crystal Cathedral" in Garden Grove, CA started out as a drive-in church in a former drive-in theatre, with Rev. Schuller giving his sermons from on top of a concession stand.

For that matter, you can _still_ drive and park there if you want. They even have a big screen TV facing the parking lot for those drive-in worshippers.

Just a thought....
If folks didn't want to comb their hair and have face to face interaction with fellow Christians, why wouldn't they stay at home and watch a service on TV? They would have even more luxury at home and the kids could just stay in bed--or watch cartoons in the next room. Either way, I wish you well on your project.

To answer your question, no, I wouldn't attend. I would if my religion decided to do something like this because we don't have any local groves or TV programs.

In comparing the severity of a scandal you probable would desire to evaluate the smart injury certainly inflicted on particular persons in the previous concluding it became considerable or no longer. At challenge right here became the tax exempt status of a few so-referred to as charitable communities. i'm no longer yet conscious of somebody audits in contact in spite of the actual undeniable fact that there must be. Assuming the tax exemptions weren't accessible to completely political communities, using generic political words interior the titles would have been justified if utilized to the two aspects. Time will tell if the practices in contact led to truly harm. maximum folk are no longer nicely sufficient off to itemize their deductions, so that's no longer likely absolutely everyone i understand or would meet became affected. it is interesting that a Bush appointee began this technique. he will little question testify and clarify his reasoning. it is my expertise that maximum charities are literally run to pay extreme salaries to their proprietors and that i doubt political ones are any distinctive.

Well, to me, this seems more about convenience than worship. Isn't church supposed to be about worshipping God? I understand about the whole idea, it's good, for maybe a town meeting. But for church? I know God doesn't want us to be vain, and worry about our appearance, but I think that he wants us to make an effort to be fully awake and conscious about why we are at church.

It would probably be most effective if you showed porn flicks on a screen while you preached. And, served beer.
