I'm mostly Asian, but since I have European ancestry, my hair isn't like an average Asian's except it's really thick. It's dark brown, but with subtle auburn and gold (natural) highlights you can see when I'm in the sun, and it's wavy.
Sometimes I get an inferiority complex seeing the perfect hair on some of my friends. . .Silky, shiny, glossy, and straight. And they wake up looking like that!
I get the urge to flatiron it straight for that sleek look, but I want to appreciate my own natural wave. It's hard when "bad hair day" isn't even in the vocabulary of some of my friends!
What look do YOU prefer? Wavy or straight?
And how long is too long to spend doing your hair?

I think most people go through life wishing their hair texture was whatever they haven't got. Curly girls spend lots of time and money straightening their hair, and girls with naturally straight hair do the same to get curls.
True to my theory, I always wanted curls or waves, since I spent the first 30 years of my life with long, stick-straight hair. When I finally decided to try cutting it shorter, to my surprise, BOING! My hair got all wavy. It turns out that my hair is so fine that any length pulls it out straight, but it's naturally wavy. I'm thrilled to find this out! I always loved wavy hair when I thought I couldn't have it, and I love it now, too!
Which is better? Neither. There are beautiful straight hairdos, and beautiful wavy and curly dos. Know this, and wear whichever one strikes your fancy at that point in your life. As for how long you should spend on your hair, I'd say long enough that you like how it looks and feels. If you don't have time to do something else that's important to you (i.e. getting enough sleep, getting to work on time, interacting with your family or roommates) or you realize that your main hobby is doing your hair, you're spending too much time.

I used to sit on my hair and it way way too wavy so I know where you are coming from. I used to be a hairstylist now I only do it part time. I would suggest two things :
First you could try having a straight razor cut I know it sounds silly but it works it is actually cutting your hair at an angle and there for cuts down on the curl. Second of all you can use a electric straightener but I would suggest a leave in condition so you don't wreak your hair or a stylist of your choice might be able to straighten it chemically ,It's like a perm only difference is they comb your hair straight rinse and then use a neutralizer.
Sincerely

Girl!!!! I feel your pain. I'm Latina and my hair is curly so I have to work on It a lot to get it straight (my favorite) But i have to admit that it is fun to be able to have the best of both worlds, I can go curly or wavy or straight whenever I want to andI always look different. Yes, I know you hate that perfect hair , your friend's hair, but think that they are stuck with that hair style and probably wishing they had a little more volume on their hair, just like you. I guess what I'm triying to say is we are never happy with what we got and will always want it different.
Just use your flat iron one day and the next day leave it wavy and you don't know it but you are probably the envy of all your friends

Girl, wavy hair is beautiful as well as straight hair.
However, wavy hair requires more attention to give it a more tamed look. I love slightly wavy hair, think Jessica Simpson in the "boots are made for walkin'" music video.
However, I prefer straight hair and occasionally curl it!

diddo! lols... i now have straight hair but i used to have the same problem. i'm full chinese but my hair is thick (even when short) and wavy. at times i had also envied the perfect straight hair my friends had but i learned to appreciate mine. i mean come on. a full head of hair! at least we won't go bald when we get older. plus, so many people with straight hair actually want wavy or curly hair but just can't manage it. it falls out right away for them. if you really want to though, just test it out for a few days. personally i suggest not to though. flat ironing too much can damage and dry your hair. im sure it looks perfect now. ps. for those bad poofy hair days, just go for a nice updo or a bun or sumthing. it always works. then when you take it out your hair's even more wavy and beautiful ^^

I always believe you should stick with your hair's natural texture. Any kind of heat damages your hair, and the thought of using a flatiron on my curls make me shudder. Who would want to spend hours in the morning trying to flatten their hair just to look like every other clone on this planet? I've got better things to do.

none if they dont have volume. Straight silky and curly hair with no volume or body looks dead and sad. if you do have volume you look good ether way
when im doing the straight hair it takes me 5 mins in the morning. i just take my hair out the rap i did over the night and comb it out and im on my way.
when i want to go curly it also takes 5 mins. because before i go to sleep i put on these soft rollers so that in the moring all i have to do is take em off and im done.

well i have wavy hair and i always loved straight hair or curly hair. lol lucky me i got stuck with something icky in the middle. i dont think spending that much time to straighten it is worth it, i mean i never had the patience to do it so i think leave it wavy but try to style it nice so u dont look like tarzan...
