I believe I am but there are more ways to be OCD than cleaning. If it is too difficult for you to cope you might try behaviour conselling or see a psychiatrist.

Yeah, I count things too. I'm pretty annoying about it... I'm like the nightmare of what happens when Anorexia meets OCD. Calorie counting was never worse or more precise.
Everything I do has to be perfect, from clothes I'm wearing to make-up I've put on, right down to what I eat and when.

I have OCD, but my thing is rituals. I have to put the "right" sock on the "right" foot or something bad might happen or I have to get in the bed the "right" way or wash myself in the exact same way every morning so the bad stuff doesn't happen. I know how you feel, it used to take me an hour to get dressed (and I just mean putting on clothes) before I started taking clomipramine. And I had the germ thing too. I went a long time without shaking someone's hand and when I was forced to I would immediately have to run off and wash my hand under scalding hot water. So I know exactly how you feel.

Hi, My father has it. He needs to count everything he does. He also needs things to be in an even number. If he gets lets say 3 M&M's he will either throw one away, or he will add 3 and 3 in his head to make 6.
If he goes into a store and they have tiles, like for example Wal-Mart, he will step on every single tile in the middle, so that he won't step on the lines of the tiles. He refuses to step on cracks.
Let's put it this way.....have you seen the movie "As Good As It Gets" with Jack Nickolson? Well my father is not far from that.
They do have support groups for people that have it REALLY BAD.
I alos think that it is genectic. When I write something in pen, I must make sure that all my dots are directly over my i's. If they are not, I will start over. I also find myself counting things too. I will take 10 tea bags out of the box to make a pitcher of tea. When I take them out of the paper, I have to count them again. Then as I put them in the Pitcher I must count them again.
Look into joining a support group near your area. They also have something like self therapy that you can do on your own.

My 18yr. old daughter has it and has since she was about 13. She does repetitive things and won't leave the house until her face is done and perfect. It is a hard thing to cope with. She always counts thing's and check's thing's. My daughter does go to therapy for it and was on medicine but it didn't help her any. Good luck with it!!

I don't have an actual diagnosis, but whatever it is, it has the same symptoms. I usually check things over and over just to make sure it's right, and I get CRANKY about it. It annoys me to death, but I can't stop doing it. Like say I write a sentence (like now), I have to go back and check what I have written a zillion times and make sure what's there is there and is right and argh! I clean a lot too. ;)

I am not OCD but I am a nurse and take care of these patients. This must be horrible for you. As you already know the constant repetitive behaviors are to relieve the anxiety. I hope your getting help.

It depends. Is this an actual diagnosis or do u just like to clean? Do u find yourself turning down hanging out with friends so y can clean? Are u up 3 am to clean ur room or cant sleep til ur room is perfect?
