Personal conduct in this society has deteriorated to such a point that people not only are unwilling to take responsibility for their actions and choices (here, not specifically in a context of right-vs-wrong but of you-get-what-you-pay-for), but they have been neither educated nor brought up to take that responsibility. There is a huge number of causes too numerous to discuss in this forum, but I feel that too many people living in the city and too many barriers built into the employment system may have something to do with this. Eventually people will have to learn how to wipe their own bottoms after relieving themselves.

Ain't it the truth???!!!!
I work in an assisted living facility. The family members act like I owe them money! I mean, I am getting paid barely over minimum wage to help their mother and father wipe their behinds, and they aren't satisfied!!!
I think a requirement to graduate high school should be to work in or around some kind of public service, so the kids growing up might be less of the jerks we deal with!!!

I was a server at one time. Some people are just naturally cranky. It usually didn't bother me too much. As I looked at them and smiled I would remember that I would only have to put up with them for about an hour, then I'd think of the poor soul that was married to them! Instant smile.

i work at walmart and I know what you mean...
People are jerks to customer service poeple because they are "easy targets"
They know U cannot say anything abck to them so they can do and say anlmost anything and get away with it.
SO many people in our society hurt others
and then go around looking for someone to unleash it on. It is not right but I believe it is called "sh*t slides" and unfortunatly so many have been brought up thinking that is alright to do to anyone and everyone.

Because they are low-lifes and feel the need to better themselves by taking it out on people who can't fight back. Such a shame what society has succumbed to.

I know and it's not just every so often, it's all the time. My family own a restuarant and no one wants to do the front, or wait on people. It's the worst job because people are AS*es. If they are really ridiculous I give it right back to them, but I can because I won't get fired.

I feel that people are rude when calling customer service because they feel that if they sound upset you will help them a lot faster. When in true if they do that all you want to do is get them off the phone as soon as possible.

I suppose people feel the need to belittle customer service reps stems from the fear of being ripped off. And no one likes to be made a fool. Fear. That's all.

it's sad, but people tend to believe that people in your position don't know anything and they are therefore superior, so they feel the need to let you know this by treating you as though you were lower class then them because you are the "low life" that has to wait on them. just take a deep breath and remember that each job has its drawbacks...and keep counting down the hours til your shift is over!!

No kidding!
Here's my theory:
-Some people have very small lives.
-Therefore, very small things end up being very big deals to them because they have nothing else to complain about.
-Then they come to you with their complaint. They FINALLY have a person that they can whine to/yell at about their issue.
-They forget that you are just working for the company and that you have nothing to do with the fact that their brand new WHATEVER isn't functioning the way they want, etc etc.... so they scream and yell and are sarcastic and condescending because they are tired of being the victim of your company and want to victimize somebody else!
But hey... that's just my theory ;)
