Please don't jump down my throat. I love animals and all, have had dogs, have a cat now...but this is strange, so I want your opinion.

So I saw a woman walking around downtown this evening with a smallish cage (maybe a ferret could fit in it). So I was curious, and was kind of trying to see what she had. Well, it was empty, and she had a kitten draped over her shoulders (kind of like a living fur collar?). This kitten had a harness, and some sort of neck cloth, like a small bib or something. But she is just walking around with this kitten across her shoulders. My life will go on, but is she wacked, or do other people wear their pets?

LoL. What are you talking about of course people wear their pets. I wrap my dog around my shoulders when I go out, she's pregnant now so she's nice and big lol. Just kidding, I think she is wacked, but it's kind of funny don't you think.

I suppose it was odd to see that out in public, but it really isn't all that unusual for a cat.
My brother had a cat that used to rest across his shoulders like that . Even when he would get up & walk around, the cat would just stay there.
I've seen it a few times, with other people too
But not ever, like in a public downtown area.

Not to worry or lose any sleep, maybe the kitten liked bein' up there, they often like being in or on high places.

Hey, I've had a couple of cats that liked to hang out on my shoulders. Usually, they'd only be up there for a little bit...certainly not long enough to take a walk around the block or anything. It's not that big a deal.

A cat is a pet, so why not? No different from carrying around a parrot or lizard. Why would it be strange to carry around a cat/kitten? Just means she loves her animal enough to share it with the world. No biggie.

She's wacked... And people do often wear their pets. Actually, during the Elizabethan era, the fashionable thing to do was to actually keep a tiny dog underneath your skirt. Queen Mary Stuart's dog actually was under her skirt during her execution, and even nuzzled her corpse after the beheading in sheer confusion and fear (one contributing figure to one of the most pathetic executions ever). There are bird cage hats, too. Lots of women carry their little dogs in their purses nowadays as well.

It's REALLY weird... But I guess it's one of those, "Wow, look how edgy/trendy I am!" things.

kittens and cats do not travel well with leashes so usually they do wear a harness when traveling. a small kitten is a joy to cuddle and also needs additional attention from its owner as it is a baby. cats prefer to be draped across their owners neck. usually they fit snugly there and are happy.

Sounds like the cat liked it, just like your doggy may like to go for a walk. Cats are funny like that some sleep in sinks or under the bed, on cloths. All 3 of mine love the warm cloths pile out of the dryer.

She might have been walking the cat and it stopped and wouldn't go no further. If not then she loves her cat alot. I have never worn any of my animals but my kitten likes climbing on my shoulder and going to sleep so that may be it.

My kittens often drape themselves across my shoulders, or try to sit on them like a parrot would. I think they're just too lazy to walk. It's not that rare though.

Do you live in San Francisco? Actually, I have known some people to wear a cat like a living fur collar. My aunt did it with a great big black cat.
