I'm pretty good at being able to tell whether a guy is flirting with me, but when they tease me I always get confused. Is it because they hate me? Or because they are attracted to me? Or what? And how can you tell the difference?
There was this one guy who sometimes gave me a hard time, but later on I found out he had a big crush on me. I had guessed that he liked me earlier on, but when he started teasing me and making fun of me I thought, "No, wait. . .He must not like me that much, maybe just as friend." But then I found out that I was right from the beginning, he DID like me all along!
Can anyone clarify the reason why guys do this? I keep getting mixed signals.

Sometimes its their personailty and sometime is their crush. No rule of thumb. Sorry.

Not always, but it happens that way a lot. It really depends on the guy. Those of us that do that just do it to see how you'll react, and to draw your attention a little. If they hated you they would probably stay away and hope that you don't bother them! Good luck!
Edit: Now that I think about it, it depends on what he says. If he's mean about it, then he probably does not like you. But if the teasing is playful, then yes, he does like you. I thought you were talking about playful teasing at first, but now that I read your question again it sounds like you're talking about hurtful teasing. If a guy teases you that way, it does not matter if he likes you or not (he probably does not anyway). He just needs to grow up. Good luck!

Only men who don't "get it" tease women when they are attracted to them. A real man lets you know right up front, usually within minutes of meeting you, that he likes you.
For example, when I see a woman on the street that I think is attractive, it is very common for me to walk right up to her out of the blue and say "I like you" as the first thing out of my mouth.

it kinda depends how old you are, rule of thumb, 14 and under he likes you, over 14 he just likes making fun of you

it really depends on the guy...if he is really ignorant then it dont mean he likes ya...if he is funny and cares about you then yes its possible
