Crickets only live a few weeks. The crickets hatch from eggs laid in the ground in the spring or early summer, and are adults within about 3 months. They breed and then lay their eggs in late summer. They then die of old age or will freeze if the temperature lowers to 32 degrees. Incidently the the higher the temperature gets the more a cricket chirps. http://mathbits.com/MathBits/TISection/Statistics2/linearREAL.htm
Try turning on your airconditioner if you have one and maybe he'll quiet down...lol.

most crickets have a unmarried annual generation. Eggs are laid inside the autumn, normally overwinter in soil, then hatch out tiny nymphs that look like miniature adults. The nymphs consume leaves or roots and undergo a series of molts till they attain the grownup stage.

My crickets live happily in their cage for around 8 months, with good care. Did you know they shed their skin and are white after first emerging from their skin? Then they are a chocolate brown and finally the are black after a few hours.

Also, most of them will not be affected if they lose a front or side leg, but if one loses his back leg, he goes over to his water bowl and drowns himself! All I had did this but one, and he was young and he survived without his back leg. Amazing creatures!
