Obviously they do not know what an oxymoron is.

Atheists intrinsically are insecure and afraid. They can not fathom anyone can believe in God and gain the feelings of contentment and security. IF Atheists have more, why would they wonder whether we have what they have or not.
Do you see very often the rich man running after the poor man to give his money? Do you see the knowledgeable man running after the ignorant to share his knowledge which can truly benefit a person? These joes and janes are very insecure, that is why they want to have a dialogue with the religious people.
Do you ever see the atheist giving away his money, or knowledge without charge? Why does he wish to give away his belief without charge when people have not asked him to give it away? Because the atheist is insecure within and he considers his belief worthless too... and yes, it is a belief without foundation.
If I claim a certain book does not exist in the Library, I am saying I have checked all the books in the Library. If I say certain book exists in the Library, all I have to do is to show you that book and that is that. I do not have to know all the books in the Library. Such is the condition of the atheist. They are claiming that there is no God, when they have not even gone.
Wants you to be in the same scared state that he lives in, day in and day out, with a few exceptions.
It is the deep need within the atheist to connect with the godly, as he has a deep thirst within his soul to be touched by The Hand of the Lord Almighty. So, he goes to the next best that he can think of, which is people who are connected to the Lord Almighty.
So, show them sympathy and try to bring them closer to the MERCY of the HOLY ONE, as the religious people can be the mirror that brings the Light of the HOLY ONE to them.
Once they feel it, they will never let go of the darkness and float up into the beautiful cool effulgent ethereal light of the Lord Most High that engulfs you and me.

WOW! You got a lot of answers. They want to try and bring the "truth" to the masses, just like most Christians and people of other religious denominations do. They think it will make the world a better place. To me though, Atheism is a religion. Religion is a way for people to connect and to discuss their beliefs, many Atheists do this with other Atheists, so in a odd way, it could be call a religion.

Because the First Amendment gives us all freedom of speech and forbids a state religion. Atheists have opinions about religion and have as much right as anyone to express them. All too many Christians want to repeal the First Amendment. I've replied to letters in newspapers that express such petty tyranny. Atheism is not a religion, even if some dumb zealots say it is. It is a lack of religion. A=no and theos=god. I don't have to sit on a hard seat every Sunday morning and hear shrill awful music and pointless sermons given with a quivering voice that gets on my nerves. I do not have to give to regular offering, special offering and building fund after this ordeal either. My oldest sister gives $50 per month to her church. If she saved that much, rather than giving it to a pastor, she would have enough to buy a Piaget "Polo" watch like mine in 43.5 years. Maybe her pastor has one.

For starters, people post here because it is not just your section. Secondly, even if atheists don't believe in your religion, no matter if it's belief or non belief, what a person believes is still a big part of life. Got that?
My question is will people ever figure that out and stop asking this same thing.

This is argumentative. To answer your question, first we will have to define, what exactly is a Religion. The term originated from Latin, meaning 'being bound'.. it may mean being bound by faith or some belief system. In general, it is not a faith system that would get people get together talking about it, that's why it is not a religion group.
But if you argue that not believing in existance of God, is also a kind of belief system, then it may sounds like a religion.
Perhaps, Yahoo Answers! should create another category for them. :-P

Why do people forget that some people don't browse the questions by category? I just page through the "All Categories" listing. Funny how there always seems to be so many Christians with stupid questions. I mean, if your Bible has all the answers, why ask anything on this site?
Wait, am I gonna get angry e-mail for answering a question with a question? Crap, I did it again.

I post on this category because I am interested in religious ideas, even if i don't believe them. A lot of people also ask questions specifically for atheists. Atheism is not a religion. The Church of Realism is however, and they are an atheist church.

An atheist is a smart, intelligent person who still cannot be swayed by the arguments put forth by modern day religious groups. Many of their ideas are based on information and happenings that took place or may have taken place thousands of years ago. It is a non religion. underthedevineinfluence@yahoogroups.ca may be what they are looking for.

Atheism is a religion. (it takes a whole lot more faith to believe that then the bible) and they come here because They KNOW IN THEIR HEART they are wrong but they want to lie to justify themselves and somehow find the peace they are seeking. Of coarse any comfort or pleasure from posting their tirades is short lived and they will not find true peace unless they receive Jesus as Savior

ANYone can comment on religion, whether they believe in it or not. I can comment and ask questions in the folklore and mythology section, even if I don't believe literally in folklore and mythology.
You do not have to be religious to ask a question about religions. I am a Hindu, but I ask many questions about Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and other religions. I see nothing contradictory about that. An atheist is welcome to do the same. And a Christian is welcome to ask a question of an Atheist.
