If I had to give one up I think I could live without hearing, I think I can live without having to hear what people say. People say mean dumb things I would love to not hear it any more.

Fun question. I think I would choose smell. I know two people with no sense of smell, and they seem to do OK. It would be way worse to loose one of the big three senses, sight, hearing , or touch. So, between smell and taste I think I enjoy tasting things more than smelling them. Hey, now that I think about it, sometimes there could be a good side to not being able to smell.
badbear is right though, smell is more important for survival, and probably is the smarter choice.

Because of several strokes, I have already lost a small amount of touch, and part of my eyesight. The years of learning how to adapt have been very educational. The wonderful thing about the human senses, is that when one is gone or limited, the others seem to try to compensate for it.
I would rather have given up smell, if I had a choice. I would be lost without sight, or any of the others.

I'd say taste. Smell adds a lot to taste, so it would maybe compensate some. Also, unless you make a habit of eating old rotten food, there is little chance of missing something deadly by just not tasting it. Any of the other senses would make a major difference in protecting yourself from a deadly(at times) world.

Smell. There's so many bad smells out there. Food can be a good smell, but as long as I can taste it that's alright. Losing my sight would just kill me. I'm an amatuer photographer and I appreciate the beauty in everything.

That's a very good question. I just had surgery for Occipital Neuralgia where they severed the nerve and left one side of my head completely numb (yes, I'm a numbskull - or half a numbskull). I have to be careful that I don't burn my head with the hair dryer or curling iron (because I can't feel the heat). I keep bumping it getting into cars because I can't really tell where that side of my head is without looking (as strange as that sounds). It still gets itchy, but I can't feel myself scratching and that drives me crazy. I definitely wouldn't give up my sense of touch. I also lost my sense of taste because of the anesthesia during surgery (just for a few weeks). I lost 14 pounds because I couldn't taste anything and didn't want to eat what I couldn't taste. I changed my mind - that's a bad question. I don't want to give up any of my senses. I like them all. You can have my 6th sense if you want. It doesn't work very well anyhow.

Smell. I'd miss the smell of food cooking, coffee & freshly baked bread - but I'd miss those things far less than:
tasting the food & coffee
seeing somone smile
hearing someone laugh
feeling someone close to me
