I am wanting to have a modernized 1940's/1950's wedding. I already have a french net birdcage veil. I was also thinking of having myself and the two junior bridesmaids carrying a parasol. What else can I do?

How about a horse drawn carrage? Perhaps a small country church to set the traditional atmosphere.

Watch some old movies with wedding scenes in them. You'll get a good idea of the styles of that time. The biggest element you could make 40s or 50s is probably the music and the clothing. If you want something fun and playful, ;maybe you could do a soda fountain/ice cream shoppe for a dessert bar at your wedding!

If you know how to sew or know anyone that does check out Folkwear Patterns. You can also try the vintage Vogue patterns. They should both have websites. If there is a fabric store or Jo-ann's in your area check them out. Ask older members of your family what they had at their wedding. Good luck!
