Most Americans, white and black alike are Christians. Christians do not worship Christianity They worship Christ. People do not worship there religion but they worship whatever god there religion is, in your case it is Mohammad. This is what makes America great because Americans have freedom of religion and they can worship whatever they want. People should not put other people down just because of there religion.

African Americans were brought in by the whites as slaves long time ago.At that time, even the time of Martin Luther King,Christianity is the only major religion in America .The slaves who are christians like their masters are treated better then the others.Of course im not saying their bad or anything but thats how most african americans are christians, the same reason white americans are christians.Fore fathers of your country are either atheist or christians.
For you becoming a muslim, thats your choice, nothing wrong with that.
The reason why there isnt alot or any african americans that are buddhist, taoist or hindu is simply because they arent a proletyzing religion unlike Christianity or Islam.

PS:I apologize if i say something rude or hurt your feelings in any way.btw,u mean you worship Allah, not muhammad..and christians worship jesus or God,not worship Christianity. But maybe some do that! lol!

I really don't know why so many African Americans worship Christianity. But I know plenty of African Americans follow Islam and worship Allah: Louis Farrakhan, Malcolm X, Mohammed Ali, Mike Tyson etc. May Allah bless you!

If you are a Muslim, why do you worship a Messenger, or a religious dispensation? Do you mean that you worship Mohammed did, and that you worship Islam teaches?

No Black people I've evern known worship Christianity itself.

Worship Allah alone, do not worship anything equally to or more than Allah. This is shirk, a most severe and unforgivable sin in Islam. Be careful!

I'm not American, African or Christian, so I can't say for certain, but I imagine a lot of it is do with the slave trade. I think a lot of slaves were forced to follow Christianity by their owners and eventually they began to find comfort in it.

Just think - if it wasn't for the slaves following Christianity, history would be so very very different - no gospel music, therefore no blues, jazz or rock'n'roll music!

Because when they brought them over as slaves to North America, they forced them to worship Christianity, after the slave generation fell out, I am assuming that they were all content on keeping their religion the same.

If you have been called by Islam to worship, so be it. I am a Roman Catholic African American, as are thousands of people. God told us he is the only God. He never condemned any of us for worshiping Him. Follow your calling and God Bless you.

I was just wondering how many African Americans you know. Most black people I know were born right here in the U.S., which makes them Americans. Except for one, who was born in Canada, but he has since become naturalized, so you could call HIM a Canadian American. He's Christian, too.
