Before you asnwer, no, I am not suicidal and would never consider doing such an act.
That being said here comes the question,
Why live when you are going to die?
Without getting into the religous aspect of death ect., is there any real reason to live?

There are some good answers posted to this question.
I once worked with some middle school inner city kids, and I was in charge of a community garden. There was a boy who was assigned to help me. Often, when we went to the garden, we would find that it had been vandalized. So I would set out to repair what I could, with his help, and continue.

One day he asked me, "why do you continue when you know that it is going to keep being messed up? " I thought about that, and the question my young son asked, which was, "why should I keep cleaning my room when it is only going to get dirty again?" I thought about the alternative, which is to give up and not try anymore, in despair. I thought about all the things that were temporary. Why bother? I thought of the things which were risky and might not succeed. Why bother?

My answer, which seemed to satisfy him was that any good we could do is worth doing. If we try we might fail,, but if we don't try we will surely fail. If we were getting more than a 50% return that was actually a significant gain because it was a large garden. Also that I personally needed to be a productive and constructive person who does the best I can and I needed to continue, to persevere,,, and to start again.

Another way to look at it is to enjoy good moments, even though we know they will not last. Should I not have a pet because I know that someday that pet will die? That is how I was for a long time. but I let a homeless cat in last year and I am enjoying her, even though I know it is not forever and I must be ready for this time to pass. Every day must pass,, some I'm glad will pass and some not,, but I fill each day the best I can.
And I do believe in God, and in heaven,,, and that when I die I am going there because I'm doing the best I can now.

The time of life is the only thing that you are cognizant of. I can't remember any thing pre-nataj or what I did in a previous life. Parts of life are exciting and sensually pleasant and viscerally stimulating and socially rewarding. I'm not sure of the meaning of ones life not even sure your life has a reason. We could just be the byproduct of the primordial stewpot, stir it up and see what kind of slug emerges. I like being alive and thats enough reason for me - because it feels good.

In fact nobody likes to die including you.its not that the death is something dangerous.Rather its peaceful like a permanent sleep.we acknowldege or we dont acknowledge the fact is evrything is soooooooo beutiful and wonderful around us.we are the guest in this world and so when we have come we will enjoy here till we awaken of our going back.death is awakening.....and life is playing and forgetting the real self. Death and life is like day and night , you just have to follow it. day and nite has specific time period which we know.death and life has specific time period which we dont know.. its mistery!its surprise and so there is charm and joy......

Life is an adventure, and once it's over, we move onto the next great adventure which is death. You're right, there is no point to life and it what we do won't matter once we pass on, but since we are here why not live it to the fullest?

You live simply because your alive. This is a natural relationship. You don't have many choices.
Most people wonder 'what is the point of all of this?' The answer is the same. Similar to why to climb a mountain Life can be real simply.

To feel joy and happiness. To feel the warm sun on your face. To help others and to make a difference. To learn and grow and make the world a better place for your children and progeny. Life is an adventure and, if you believe in reincarnation, it is just the beginning of the adventure.

I'm more concerned about why we die!

We live for so many reasons: but I believe the biggest reasons are to: learn
love
experience
grow
develop
create
evolve
overcome
reproduce
teach
encourage
forgive
enjoy
listen
see
touch
taste
smell
give
receive
share
improve ...
... AND ...
MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE

You will not get an answer here to a question that Man has pondered for millennia.

I suggest you don't worry about it and live the kind of life you want

Because LIFE rocks and you get to experience all kinds of stuff and grow and learn stuff and LIVE man! Its a journey and we are here to learn lessons and if we are successful we get to graduate to the next level! Death is not the end...........it's just the begining of the next phase! We are living the dream right now. when we die.......we simply wake up!
Peace!
