As a christian I was told that a child has to be baptized as a baby, go through first communion around age 7-8 and cinfirmation at age 10-11. What if a child does not go through the process, is there any hope - salvation for them?

Sure, there is always hope. The reason that Catholics say that you need to be baptized is because Jesus said that we must be born of water and the spirit - that is what we call Baptism.

Babies are baptized because Baptism is the welcoming of the child into the Body of Christ. Baptism also removes orginal sin and restores the relationship with God that was damaged by the sin of adam and Eve. A person is born again as a son or daughter of God. a person also receives the Holy Spirit at baptism.

The other things that you mentioned are Sacraments in teh Catholic Church. Sacraments are visible sings of God's love through which we receive God's grace. There are other ways of receiving grace other than Sacraments.

Communion is the sacrament in which we receive the Body of Christ that makes us one with Christ and one with others. It is receiving jesus Christ in your life.

Confirmation is a confirmation of Baptism. Since most catholics are baptized as babies, Confirmation is when the young adult affirms his or her belief in Christ and takes responsibility for his or her faith. The person receives hte Holy Spirit to help them lead a life as a follower of Christ.

The sacraments can be received at any age. If you have not received the sacraments, read up about what they mean and talk to your priest about receiving the sacraments.

The only way to salvation is through the blood of Jesus that he shed for us so that we can have eternal life. being baptized in water is following what Jesus did, he was baptized by John the Baptist. This is after salvation, it also symbolizes the burial and resurrection of Jesus (I believe in a full body baptism, not just a sprinkle on the head). I believe in dedicating a baby to God when they are just born, in this the parents are saying that they are going to raise the child in the fear and admonition of God. I believe baptism is for those who have given their hearts to God after the age of accountability (which is where the child understands the concept of Jesus dieing on the cross for our sins and being raised on the third day, and is able to make the discision to accept Him as savior and lord) I would say that you should do a little bit of research for yourself. Look up the scriptures about water baptism. God will help you find the answer you are looking for.

Are you a Christian? OK, let me share what I know:
A baptism is a SYMBOL that you believe that Jesus has died for your sin and you have received Him as your Savior.
Communion is a symbol that you share with Him in His death so that you may alive with Him in His resurrection-it means you will live forever with Him.

But the most important thing is your REPENTANCE-you must acknowledge your sin and you receive His atonement. Without repentance, any baptisms or communions will be in vain. If you die soon after your repentance (you have no chance to be baptized or receive communion), you will be in Heaven, because you already returned to your God.

Read the story of the repenting criminal on the cross when Jesus crucified (the Gospel).

To be a Catholic, you must be Baptized, make your First Holy Communion, and be Confirmed. This symbolizes that you are part of the faith and that you are a good Catholic. People in the Catholic community respect you if you have done these things.

Right, and you've got to be careful, because if the child isn't baptized really early, like a few days after he or she is born, the elfs will come and spirit the child away to faerie-land and leave a mishapen changling in its place. So, of course, it's very important...

Salvation is by grace of God, and not by works. None of these things will save anyone. What saves a person, is realizing one is a sinner needing a Saviour, confessing Jesus Christ one's Lord, believing in ones heart He died on the cross for the remission of ones sins & rose up for ones justification.

This is where one becomes a child of God. Believing in the heart He is your Lord. The old hard heart is gone, a new soft heart in Christ Is.

Christian? Sounds like the Catholic faith to me. I find it laughable some of the scare tatics and urban legends well intending Catholics impose on others as scare tatics to commit to their faith.

Then there are some other Catholic tatics I do NOT approve of.

My best friend (non-Catholic) and his fiancee (Catholic) met with her Parish priest on Catholic wedding plans, for the girl wanted so badly to have a Catholic wedding. The priest, knowing her wishes, made them both sign papes promising their child(ren) would be reared Catholic!!! I was incensed to hear of this tacky strong-arming effort the priest made! My best friend, understandably, was angry too.

I made some political efforts and got the priest sent to some miserable Parish, where he can surround himself with other miserable people.

Catholics are dear people....but their priests sometimes don't know where to draw the reasonable line.

It's just fear-mongering to get you used to ritualistic bull. That's how brainwashing works.
