In my high school band there is Quartermaster and assistant Quartermaster. My dad said its "someone who cleans up the band room, etc, but I can't picture our Quartermaster doing that.

No I'm not a band geek, I'm a freshman on the drumline, band geeks are wind players.

The main thing the quartermaster is responsible for is the issue and collecting of uniforms as well as the care for and cleaning of the uniforms. While they might be responsible in some way for other equipment I'm not too sure what that would be. The librarian takes care of the music library and the individual sections care for their instruments (such as percussion intruments and tubas and the like). The auxillary officers (flag line, majorettes) take care of their equipment. And the drummajors are responsible for podei and any equipment they may need. So the quartmaster is mainly involved with uniforms.

Hey, this is answer #1000 for me.
