My due date is in 6 weeks but wisdom tooth is either coming in or is impacted. It hurts. I'm deathly afraid of dentists and would want to be knocked completely out. Can I have this work done while I'm pregnant?

The anesthesia you would get for removal of your wisdom teeth is safe and not that different than what you would possibly get for a Caesarean delivery. However, you have a baby that is your priority. I'd let a dentist advise you as to whether or not your wisdom tooth discomfort can be managed non-surgically until after your delivery. Good luck!

The safest course of action is to postpone all dental work until after the birth unless it's an emergency like in your case. If those wisdom teeth are really needed to be extracted now, the amount of anesthesia administered should be as little as. You will need to have it out under local anesthesia only (normal numbing). You will not be able to be put to sleep. Call an oral surgeon or get a referral from your dentist to have this done as soon as you can work it into your schedule. And RELAX.You are going to be fine and be a great MOM. Take care.

i dont kno if you can have your wisdom teeth takin out while your pregnant cause im only 16 but i've had mine takin out and i was up doing stuff the same day. Unlike me, my mom and sister both got knocked out first and they were throwing up several days later. I'm also very afraid of dentists and even more afraid of needles and i had to get 2 shots, but it didnt hurt at all! what i did was get one side done first, that way u can eat on the other side, then when those heal get the other 2. I used some gas, its supposed to make u feel "goofy"..but i didnt feel anything strange but it kept my mind off getting my teeth pulled. good luck and congrats on your baby!!!

If I were you, I'd just get numbed up and have the tooth out. I would not want to have anesthesia if I was pregnant, even in the last trimester. Consider it training for childbirth. Put it in the baby book.

I had mine removed because it hurt,I was 6 months pregnant. You should call the dentist and ask if it's okay, but I don't see why not. They use local anesthesia so it won't harm your baby.Make sure you wear the lead vest though!!!

Talk to your OB/GYN and ask them. Some docs are very particular about what you do and what medicines you take while you are pregnant. When I was pregnant, I got an abscessed tooth and they wouldn't pull it or anything until after I had my son. They advised me to take Tylenol and use an over the counter product like Anbesol (spelling?) to numb it.

I'd wait the 6 weeks if you're going to be knocked out.

Dental treatments r not recommended in the 3rd trimester unless its an emergency treatment. since we donno wat really is ur condition, its best to seek the advice of ur dentist who would provide u with an answer.
