If you want to be a nitpicker, it's "were", but "was" is used so often it might as well be considered standard also.

"If I were" is correct, but then many people use "if I was", which is technically ungrammatical, but with time becomes accepted.

I'm sure.."IF I were you...."....I still remember the teacher when tought us this!!...but u can say also "If I was" in certain places!!!
