That was the best. I can find it occasionally in wal-mart, but no where else. I made my own version, and it's pretty darn close.
Brown 1 lb ground beef
add one bag of shredded hashbrown ( Simply Potato hashbrown in the dairy section of the grocery store works the best)
1 smal jar of cheese whiz
(no need to add salt and pepper to ground beef or potatoes, the cheese whiz will add all the salt you need. )
Press meat and potatoes in skillet until brown on one side and then flip and so the same with the other side.
Microwave a small jar of cheese whiz until hot and melted.
After hashbrown mixture is brown on both side and cooked through, pour cheese over mixture and cover until cheese complete melts and starts to absorb into hashbrowns.
This is very tasty and very close to the hamburger helper version.
HOPE YOU ENJOY!!

These are the only flavors the Betty Crocker site says they have for Hamburger Helper.
Add a host of flavors to your mealtime solutions:
Cheesy Favorites: Cheeseburger Macaroni, Three Cheese, Cheddar Cheese Melt
Italian Favorites: Lasagna, Four Cheese Lasagna, Cheesy Italian Shells
Mexican Favorites: Cheesy Enchilada, Chili Macaroni, Cheesy Nacho
Homestyle Favorites: Stroganoff, Beef Pasta
If they try a new flavor and it doesn't sell enough, then they drop it.

I loved that too!!! I don't know what happened...check at Wal-Mart, they might have it.
P.S. in a pinch, you might be able to make a box of julienned potatoes (located in the section with the boxed au gratin potatoes) on the stove and add hamburger - it won't have any kind of crust, but it might work.

The freezing may have dried it out a bit, and it also tends to change the texture of potatoes, but crisping up the top and adding more cheese makes Everything better!!

I just bought some a few weeks ago. I better go check the expiration date... who knows how long it had been sitting on the shelf!
