You pay for what you get sometimes. But I really haven't met a lot of security guards who take their job to heart like they should, all I ever hear usually is that they don't get paid enough to get involved. But there are some really motivated ones and some that are way to motivated all the way to stupidity. But back to your question, clients usually think that nothing will ever happen to them, and if they have that attitude and the security employer lets them think that way then those guards will get paid very little even though they have a huge task at hand. Plus there are some clients that just get security just so they don't have to pay so much insurance. But I agreee with the statement you get what you pay for, if you pay $7 you'll get a $7 guard who doesn't really care what he looks like and if he is on time or does what he is supposed to do. But if you pay a decent wage you'll get a decent guard who actually takes interest in his job

There cannot be that much that youre doing. You walk around the area your guarding, you log people into or out of a property, you answer calls for service. How much are you getting paid? Guards in TX are paid about 10-12 per hour or more if they are commissioned to carry a fire arm...
While this field, like many others is underpaid, it is up to you to remain in this field of employment...
Cops, firefighters and other public serivce/law enforcement types are over paid about 90 % of the time. But the other 10 % of that time there is just not enough money printed to pay them what it is worth.

Because they are looked upon as guards, not worthy of anything more.
