If its a womans body, and you are a male then youre acting as though shes property, as for the death penalty most of the people on death row are christians.

This is one of the great hypocrisies in the Christian religion. They will protect you until you’re born, and after that you’re on your own!

Religion is fundamentally opposed to everything I hold in veneration - courage, clear thinking, honesty, fairness, and, above all, love of the truth."

Not if you approach the question from a viewpoint involving proper justice.

Killing a human being is an incredible responsibility. The question in abortion/death penalty is "why is this person being killed"?

In an abortion, about 97% of the time, the answer is "This tiny person has committed no crime. This tiny person is simply inconvienent to the mother."

In the death penalty, the answer had better be: "This person has committed such a heinous crime, that society will be better off without them. We must, for the good of society, kill this criminal."

Abortion is a woman's choice in this country, and in many others. It is the woman who is acting as if her child were her property, to keep or discard as she chooses. If she were chopping up her dog, or burning her cat to death in acid, there would be more outcry!

Lot's of people become Christians on Death Row. That clears their debt with God. However, the state doesn't recognize God
as autocrat, and therefore does not drop the debt. The person must still answer for their crimes against humanity.

If you're pro-life and pro-death penalty and say it's because killing of any kind is wrong, then yeah, you're a hypocrite. If, however, you feel that abortion is wrong because it'd be killing an innocent child who has not yet been given the privilege of choice, then no. People who commit murder CHOOSE to commit murder, which means they're choosing to accept any consequences. Fetuses don't have that luxury. I find it interesting that you've asked what gives other people the right to play God when your question suggests you support choice with abortion. What gives the mother the right to play God? Also, if most of the people on death row are Christians, then they're sure of their afterlife and have nothing to worry about.

Ah my very first post.

Both are very tough issues where right and wrong is hard to define. I believe that a woman's body is hers to decide what to do with and also that an unborn baby is a real human life, at the same time. In a sense, I agree with both sides of the issue. One thing is certain; God leaves our choices up to us, no matter what that choice is, even if He's against it. To top it off, even if He is against a choice we made, He forgives us and forgets the offense. This is important to remember when bringing up the issue of abortion as a Christian.

I like how you said, " most of the people on death row are Christians." As a Christian, those on death row have to obey the government's laws. Obviously they did something very serious to get on death row, so human government has a way of dealing with things, in a human way. As a Christian, if that brother offended me by something very serious like murder, I would have to forgive him and let it go. Governments are not under the same obligations, at least not that I've seen in the Bible.

I don't think that it's hypocritical. For a person to get the death penalty, they are of an accountable age and they know that they are doing wrong. As far as a baby is concerned, this is a gift from God. That baby has done nothing wrong. Why are we to take it's life before they even get to live it. Most people on death row has only claimed to be christian to try to get out of the penalty for their wrong doings. I don't believe that's playing God. That's being held accountable for our actions. Murder is Murder. To murder a baby, is that any less wrong than murdering an adult?

I don't think that it is hypocritical at all. Being pro life respects the life of an innocent child. Pro death penalty respects the constitution of the USA as well as following biblical law passed down from ancient times. The death penatly is the ultimate PUNISHMENT for convicted criminals of haneous crimes where as pro life PROTECTS the life of an innocent unborn child. I'll say this.. my friend had to have an emergency ceserean at 25 weeks of gestation due to pre-eclampsia. The baby was born very frail and teeter-tottered on the thin line between life and death for 3 months. Today he is healthy and active.. beautiful and smart. Just think.. this child could have been legally aborted the day he was born....So no I don't think that being both pro life and pro death penalty is hypocritical.

Six billion people don't undersand pro-life or any other subjects the same way; and it is even harder to seek unanimity on any social matters. Some right things today may become wrong tomorrow, some minotity groups today may become majority tomorrow. So we don't disappoint for having low voice or too imposing when our voice have force.
Social laws are changing. We have now thousands of fora in every country and on the Internet to peacefully discuss problems and measures to bring happiness and prosperity to mankind. Therefore, there is much hope that an illuminating human race, equipped with spiritual virtues and powerful instruments, will be able to fulfil the noblest goal of our age.
Yes, let each one of us think the unthinkable and rethink the thinkable.

But don't forget that less than 200 years ago women WERE viewed as property by many cultures.

And NO ONE is given the right to play God.

Both are sensitive issues to people on different sides of the opinion. One must stand in all the shoes to fully understand the pain in decisions. I believe that once that understanding happens, those people sit quietly and don't pick up the picket sign. Leave decisions in God's hands.

I do not believe anyone has the right to decide who lives and who dies besides God. Women use abortion as a means of birth control and society uses the death penalty as inmate control. Both are wrong. So yes it is hypocritical

It is not hypocritical to be pro life and pro death penalty.
God himself is pro-life that's why we are here.
But, God also is just. He mandated death penalty for 2 reasons: (1) to get rid of the wicked, and (2) to instill fear in the hearts of the would be wrong doers. Read Leviticus chap 17-19, or was it Exodus?

To say that to be pro-life is to oppose death penalty, is to tell God that his laws are wrong.

Murderers should be executed.

Innocent children should not.

Abortion is not removing part of a woman's body. It is killing a separate individual with its own brain and heart.

Why do animal rights activists who want people to be imprisoned for mistreating their pets also find it perfectly acceptable to kill an unborn human child? Shouldn't an unborn child have at least as many rights as a dog?
