I fast quite often. After the first few days I lose approximately 1 pound of fat/muscle a day. I always buy multivitamins to take in addition to my regular array of vitamins. (I'm anorexic, keep in mind my advice is based purely on my own experience, not necessarily to be followed closely ;)
I have never gone on a full water fast; I always allow diet sodas, gum, and fat free hot chocolate every few days. The longest I fasted was 15 days. Take it easy while you fast: You'll feel dizzy, weak, and more emotional/moody. Don't over exert yourself with exercise or extreme temperatures. Make it as easy for your body as you possibly can.
Remember, fasting is VERY dangerous!! You're not only toying with your body's regular cycle, you're changing the way your mind focuses. If your doctor hasn't ok'ed it, I'd advise you not to... just to be safe. If you want to try it anyway, Google "water fasts" and do all your homework beforehand, learn what to expect.
It's harder than it seems, staying away from food. People might wonder why you aren't eating and become very concerned. You can use "religious fasting" as an excuse. (; They probably won't understand any reason you give them, though.
I agree with the person who says when you break the fast you will overeat, which is why you must convince yourself not to. I recommend gradually consuming a healthy amount of calories with the "200, 400, 600, 800" method. Basically, each day eat 200 calories more than the day before until you reach 1000 calories.

It is healthy to go on a water fast for a few days and longer 1-2 weeks need a doctor's supervision. They would normally recommend something like juices to keep the protein level up.

I'm not a dietian or nutritionist, but I don't think that's healthy. More like anorxic. A good fast is 24 hours, once a month. It rejuvinates the body, mind and soul. Anything longer than that should only be done under doctors orders.

Are you serious? Why in the world would you want to do that? No it is not healthy. I have a anorexic girl that lives on my street. I am always afraid that when I drive by her when she is jogging that the wind will blow her off the road. I do think about hitting her sometimes though. I would like to see: A)How far she would fly through the air or B)If she would evenly break in half like the rotten piece of wood she looks like. Nothing more attractive than a girl that looks like a skeleton in a skin suit.

If someone on Yahoo answers told you it was a good idea to fast for a month, would you do it?
Ask a doctor! A real doctor, one that you can see and talk to face to face, so that you can check their qualifications. Fasting can be very healthy, but not for all types of people. Don't do it until you have checked with your doctor and read a few books on the subject.

No way. 24 hours is enough. You will train your body to store fat. It will assume you are starving and hoard all food when you eat again.

No. Unless a doctor has prescribed it and you are in an environment where your health can be monitored, don't try it.
