Lester Hayes, he used Stickum and after the NFL banned it they made a rule which still bears his name, even with this in account, he is considered one of the greatest coners in the NFL.

Lester Hayes is the one that used it to the extreme. I didn't know that he died though. He played for the Raiders in the 70's and early 80's
