Long Beach is probably the closest. Or Burbank. You can take a direct flight from JFK to Long Beach on JetBlue. (www.jetblue.com)

I love JetBlue. The most hassle-free airline and more leg-room than any other coach seats.

Ontario is not Orange County, it's San Bernardino County. John Wayne airport is in Orange County.

Tonalc 1 - Ontario is NOT in Orange County!!! It'a in San Bernardino County and it is a WAY better alternative to LAX.

There are a lot of smaller airports near LAX. It all depends on whether the airline you fly lands or takes off from that airport. Burbank is fairly close to LAX. John Wayne IS in Orange County, but with traffic, you're probably just better off flying out of Burbank. Ontario is pretty convenient and only about an hour away from LAX.

Burbank is probably the closest and it's a great airport to fly into, it's usually not very crowded. Ontario and John Wayne are more south but also not that far.

LAX is in Los Angeles. In the heart of the city. All the other airports are further from the center of things.

ANd really, LAX is divided into several terminals and it is not that bad.

The other main airports are Van Nuys, Burbank, John Wayne (Orange County) and Ontario.

Ontario is only for going to places in the eastern end of greater LA. And John Wayne is fine for flights to Disneyland. But really, because of volume LAX flights are usually cheaper and there are connections all over the place.

Without knowing why you have an antipathy to LAX, we cannot help you selecting the best choice.

Myself, in the 10 years I lived in Orange County I took John Wayne maybe 5 times and LAX was my best choice the other 40 or so times. And do note if you are flying into the LA area from overseas then LAX is your only viable choice.

Don't do Ontario, that's Orange County. Use Burbank.

People who thank me by telling me that I "did a good job." Those who put in a good word for me, or brag on me. That is really the only way that I feel good about myself...I cannot do anything without getting the approval of someone else. And if they say that I didn't do a good job, or I was sloppy, then it makes me really look down on myself. I want to do something over if I think it wasn't "satisfactory" enough. Now, what really makes me feel good, is girls that flirt with me...which seldom every happens, but I do like it. :) Great question!
