We are still short. She needs a cosigner for a student loan and we have no one willing or able to sign. She's already registered, etc. We hate to give up. Any suggestions?

I don't suggest the parents plus loan because the parents have to pay back the money...which can ruin their credit if they don't...I suggest the Student-freindly loans like....Stanford loans, Perkin loans etc., which have low interest rates...
Also ask if they are subsidized..meaning your interest will be paid by government while your child is in college and 6 months after the graduation the interest will start, giving time to gather some money. Ask if the interest rate is fixed so it does not increase.

you need to go to the financial aid office at the school she can take out subsidized and unsubsidized loans through the government. She will not need a cosigner she will need to complete the master promissory note at the school to receive but that's about it. Call the FA office at the university tomorrow!

you will not get any credit based loans with terrible credit and no cosigner, it is in basic terms not likely to ensue. economic assist you get from utilising with the FAFSA isn't credit based inspite of the incontrovertible fact that so which you will desire to get a minimum of a few help in the type of pupil loans. assume to proceed working finished time on the same time as in school. It sucks, yet human beings do it each and all of the time.

ohgeez, thats awful. did u try and have yur credit ran to make sure you werent accepted. thats awful. dont give up. there are other ways. most colleges have a deferred payment plan. i would look into that. I cant believe no relatives are willing to co-sign, not even a friend of the family. thats awful. i hope you can figure this out.

grants and scholarships are a really good way to pay some of it off but did you try applying for financial aid? with a low income, they can provide a lot of help.

Talk to the financial aid department of the college and find out if you can make a payment plan or if they can help her find on-campus part time employment. Can any of the grandparents help out a bit?

Fill out a FAFSA. Ask her high school counselor about it. That's what you need to do to find out loan and grant options.
