The adductors are more important to pelvic stabilization during walking, lunging and squatting,but without the abductors this would be impossible. Looking at the upper body adductors are more important to shoulder stabilization. Most of our daily human functions require bringing objects closer to our trunk than away. Everything works in proportion to it's counterpart. Nothing is independent. This is why machine weight lifting is inferior than dumbbells, barbells and body weight movements because muscle isolation is unknown in the natural world.

Adductor muscles appear bigger because they tend to not be as firm as abductors. They do less work!

Because we're bipedal.Squatting and other motions that quadra pedal animals don't do make us need these muscles.You don't include much detail in your question so that's what I have for now.At least I didn't ask what so I could get 2 stupid points.If you're doing a paper drop me a message with more details.
