It varies depending on how much damage was done to the nail bed. Sometimes it comes off in stages - ie not all at once.
(Personal experience from when I was a kid was about a week. D*** car door! And the greatest relief was soaking the finger in water - so that summer I went swimming every day.)

I don't know. I remember getting my finger smashed in a doorway when I was in Sunday School (I was four at the time). But I can't remember how long it took for the nail to fall off.

well as a nail expert this has confused me... i study nails you see, i am quite the professor.... whats a trunk door... hmmm what was in the trunk.. anyway i suggest you put a plaster over your dudey nail, i suggest you close your eyes for a minute and kiss you nail, then rip away the plaster and everything shall be brilliant again. i spread so much joy in the nail industry. - i actually dont really no though, im only 15 :| sorry to hear about you nail, hmmm did u see tht cool guy put a nail in his nose on Derren Brown? Wicked (Y) - try putting ur nail up ur nose?!?! I actually may study nails when i leave school.
