Since Puppy Chow is mainly grain based, your puppy needs at least 1 cup per 10 lbs of the puppy's weight. If puppy weighs 30 lbs, that would be minimum 3 cups of food per day.
Switching to a meat based food will decrease the amount needed, AND will decrease the size and frequency of the puppy's poops.
Dogs are carnivorous, they need meat in their diets.
When too much grain/carbs are used, it's called 'filler' and is simply not utilized by the dog, and thus, pooped out.
Purina has never been a company to include human grade chicken or lamb in their foods. They use the cheapest by-products they can purchase and rely on animal fat (any animal...ie: roadkill/slaughterhouse waste) for fat and calories.
Ask a pet specialty shop for advice on better quality foods. Be prepared to pay a bit more, but remember, you get what you pay for !
Best of Luck

The directions on the bag are guidelines only, and tend to make you feed a lot more than the dog really needs (after all, they want to sell a lot of dog food). Feed him 3 times a day, about 1 cup of dry (I add a little water to mine). Increase a little as he grows. At 6 months feed twice a day for life. If he seems to be too thin, increase it more. If he is chubby, decrease. Labs are the number one breed for becoming overweight! Keep him on the trim side and he'll be much less likely to have hip problems and other bone problems. I have a 95 lb. Rottie who only eats 1 & 1/2 cups twice a day. It also depends on how active he is as an adult. A housedog will need less, and a working dog will need more. You should be able to easily feel his ribs without seeing them, and he should have a "waist"--his waist should go in and not be as wide as his rib cage. P.S. Chocolate can be toxic to dogs. Don't give it.

All dog food has a feeding chart on the back that tells you according to weight how much food the puppy should eat a day. You should break that up into 2 feedings until the pup is a year old and is on adult food, then one feeding is enough

Read the back of the bag. Most foods have a chart organized by weight with recommendations on how much to feed a puppy and how often. Congrats on a new puppy :)

On the bag it says how much and how often you should be feeding your baby. I would suggest that you feed the puppy the large breed puppy chow. And, call your vet's office and they should be able to help you for sure!

i'm guessing which you at the instant are not in the U.S. astounding if i'm incorrect. for the reason that i think of you reside outdoors the U.S. i will in basic terms provide you some practise to look for in a powerful foodstuff. Meat could desire to be indexed because of fact the 1st factor, not a meal or by ability of-product, and it is going to checklist the type of meat, poultry, lamb etc. stay away from meals with corn and wheat, or by ability of-products of them. they're fillers with little or no nutritional content fabric. they're additionally worry-unfastened allergens. stay away from meals with BHA, BHT, and Ethoxyquin, all universal carginogens. discover an all ranges foodstuff quite than a puppy foodstuff. puppy formulation reason speedy enhance, speedy enhance can convey approximately bone and joint issues later in existence. Having a lab, that are companies to hip dysplasia you desire to stay away from this. An all ranges foodstuff will furnish for a extra needed slower enhance. do not purchase into the breed formulated meals, they're not something yet hype. yet another determination is a uncooked weight-alleviation plan. those are very healthful and extra useful than advertisement kibble while achieved properly. in case you like extra concepts on those i would be happy to furnish some to get you began.

It depends on his weight. The back of the bag should have feeding guidelines based on weight.
